IRISH-METAL ARCHIVE (Update... June 2012)
OK!
Hi! Everyone... New to this forum! I have a bloggy thing called "IRISH-METAL ARCHIVE" where I obviously feature all Irish bands, old and current. I feature links to streams/downloads from loads of current bands. And I upload loads of older/obscure demos from down through the years. I go to a lot of trouble to reach out and contact band members for their consent with uploading any of their material. So there are no issues with piracy. The blog has been up and running for about a year and a half now. I've no intention of listing everything here, so I'm just going to start with last months update list and hopefully keep it going from there. Thanks John. …………………………………………………………………… IRISH-METAL ARCHIVE – June 2012 http://www.irish-metal.blogspot.ie/...01_archive.html …………………………………………………………………… CHRISTS OF VIOLENCE - (Thrash - Dublin) http://www.irish-metal.blogspot.ie/...f-violence.html GARGANTUAN - (Death Metal - Enniskillen, Fermanagh) http://www.irish-metal.blogspot.ie/...gargantuan.html DOWNCOIL - (Metalcore - Lurgan/Armagh) http://www.irish-metal.blogspot.ie/...6/downcoil.html THE WATCH - (Thrash/Power Metal - Enniskillen, Fermanagh) http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2012/06/watch.html EMOTION OF FEAR - (Thrash/Groove Metal - Coleraine) http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2012...on-of-fear.html SUB-DIVINITY - (Death Metal - Armagh, I think…!!!) http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2012...b-divinity.html A DISTANT SUN - (Black/Doom Metal - Dublin) http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2012/06/distant-sun.html VICTIMISED - (Thrash/Groove Metal - Kilkenny) http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2012/06/victimised.html CACODEMON - (Black Metal - Dublin) http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2012/06/cacodemon.html ARCANE SUN - (Progressive/Doom/Death - Dublin) http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2012/06/arcane-sun.html CRUACHAN - (Pagan/Folk/Black Metal - Dublin) http://www.irish-metal.blogspot.ie/...6/cruachan.html POST MORTEM - (Death Metal - Dublin) http://www.irish-metal.blogspot.ie/...ost-mortem.html ASTRALNAUT - (Stoner/Doom Metal - Armagh) http://www.irish-metal.blogspot.ie/...astralnaut.html .................................................. ......................... Advertising is against the rules. And couldn't you just go MA and search by country?

I'm sure most regular users of the sub forum will be willing to overlook that rule in this case. And whilst you can, there's no where near the same amount of information, or free samples/downloads. This is clearly a labour of love rather than a mere archive. |

Thanks for the positive comments, lads...
@theogonia777... I'd like to think it's a fair bit different from MA, which is basically just a list of band names with releases. I try to include as much detail and history included for the bands where possible. Not to mention tracking down demos and out of print releases to upload. All with band members consent. There's nothing in this for me only my own enjoyment in flying the flag for Irish Metal and saving as many older releases from falling into total obscurity! I get no financial gains out of this whatsoever. |

Though saying that it kinda looks like he's only made an account to get more views for his site...

John, do you still need the Brigantia 'Chronicles of Doom' cd? I definitely have a copy somewhere, it's just packed away back at the folks' house in Ennis...I think! I'll have a proper look next time I'm down.

@Stranglehold
If you have a copy! Yeah! Deadly... The band don't even have a copy of that left for themselves. @ChemicalFire I suppose you're correct in a way! But only to get the music out there. I couldn't give a shite about hits/views on the site. If that's a breach of rules then I'll not post here about the blog in future. |

Anyone getting anal over this guy posting about his site is really missing the point. He's not advertising for himself, rather spreading the word of many bands at once instead of making threads for each individual band.
I'm sure if someone found something they liked on there they would be welcome to discuss that bad in this thread. Stop being silly, people.

Yes! The blog does need Mourning Beloveth. And will at some point, no doubt.
They'll be recording during the year and I'll most likely do something around the release of the next album. I have their two original demos but won't put them up without permission. I'd prefer to see them get a CD or vinyl re-release at some point. But who knows! Cruachan were happy enough to let me upload their first demo. Wound Upon Wound are indeed deadly! And will be included soon enough. |

Great idea. Got anything by Mael Mórdha? I've extremely overplayed all their releases and haven't seen any of the lads around in ages.
I should still have a box of demos in my parents' attic from multiple genres of Irish metal. If I can find them and you're interested maybe I could send you a few.

Mael Mórdha are one of the scenes leading bands at the moment, so I won't be uplaoding the albums or anything like that. I was thinking of asking about the demos, but most of the tracks have been re-recorded for the first 2 albums. I do have a demo/album from PAGAN REIGN (not the Russian band) ,one of Dave Murphy and Anthony Lindsey's old bands. It's uploaded but not live on the blog/bandcamp yet. I was on to another members, Dermot Frost, about adding it and he was fine about it. Must get that sorted. And Roibéard Uá Bóghaedhil has a solo project called Uaigneas which which originated around the same time as Mael Mordha. And a lot of the early tracks were used by Mael Mórdha for their first two demo EPs. He revived it as a solo project and has been working away in his own time on it. The 'Buí EP' was released late last year. http://irish-metal.blogspot.ie/2011/10/uaigneas.html But if you need a quick Mael Mórdha fix then check out their cover of Bathory's Vinterblot which is part of "Voices from Valhalla" A tribute album to Bathory released by Godreah Records... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYdy...&feature=g-hist Darkest Era also do a cover of Foreverdark Woods on the album... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA77...&feature=g-hist Quote:
