Another company to go look at is Dillion USA. They are US-owned, Koresn-made guitars with body styles covering Strats, Teles, SGs, LPs, Danos, Mosrites, Rickenbakers, 355s, and so forth.
Generally get OK reviews, but there seems to be a war of words between Dillion USA and Dillion Canada over whose are best.

Of the guitarists I know who choose SG-style guitars as their main or one of their main guitars, Derek Trucks is my third fave, behind Kim Thayil and Tony Iommi.
Personally, I can't say I'm a big fan of the SG shape. I have a SG-shsped hollowbody JKG, but other than it, I've only seen a handful of them that made me want to buy one- there's dark sparkling blue Gibson out there that appeals, and the US Masters Hornet.

I'd suggest a strat with a humbucker in the bridge, or a SG, as its similar to a Les Paul but lighter as well as a few other things.

I'm not a huge fan of SG's. Until recently I thought they were ugly, but they have grown on me a bit.
I tried an Epiphone one once, which is a pretty cheap one, and disliked the feel of the neck heel. But that was years ago and I probably play different now. Does any one have an opinion on Chapman guitars? They seem to have some good reviews, are a great price and will be easy to get in the UK. The Les Paulish guitars they have also seem a bit slimmer and smaller than a Gibson to, which I may prefer. http://www.andertons.co.uk/solid-bo...lack-cherry.asp
