Can anyone recommend me a new band and/or album for me? I'm into arctic monkeys, oasis, blur... Want to get into more recent indie/alt rock bands.... (i dont really like muse btw)
I also wouldn't mind getting into american indie rock like the rapture/ the pistolas but i dont really know where to start, so if anyone could recommend me some american indie stuff as well Thanks Last edited by Lollage123 : 03-13-2013 at 04:40 PM. |

Bastard Sunshine
New Indie Rock band from Canada, just released a 5 song EP. Sort of reminiscent of qotsa, artic monkeys, deus at times... also pretty proggy at times. http://bastardsunshine.bandcamp.com/

My friend turned me onto Device. it's the disturbed frontman's new project. he goes for a kind of industrial vibe but i'm not the best with genres... what do you guys think? there's the song vilify which is the big single and then the album just dropped today. thoughts?

Normally I'm more into metal, but I recently heard of a pretty cool J-rock band (Girls Dead Monster) that sparked an interest in finding some good rock music, so I thought I'd come here and ask for a few suggestions.
I don't really care what country it comes out of, by the way, it doesn't need to be specifically J-rock. Just figured I should mention that for good measure. I'm not too picky about general classification/sub-genre, either (hard rock, blues rock, whatever), so feel free to throw pretty much anything at me. I haven't really kept with new rock music for about a decade. I can go for anything from Green Day and The Offspring to Slipknot or Rob Zombie. Thanks guys. |

Pissed Jeans' album is good loud fun. Kinda Melvins-sounding. California X's self-titled album is also rad. Also loud, but a little more melodious in the guitars. ...Like Clockwork is obviously a good album, but I doubt you haven't heard that yet. |

The only one I can really recommend that just goes under rock is Hrvrd's From The Bird's Cage. It's been growing on me like crazy the last few weeks.
Oh and I guess This Town Needs Gun's 13.0.0.0.0 would fit too, it's really great. I'm really behind on new stuff this year.
