I just found my friends old Olympus C-740 Ultra Zoom. 3.2 megapixels with 10x optical zoom. It currently doesn't work but for about $50 I can get it fixed.

I don't really know anything about cameras but I want to get into photography and I'm wondering if it's worth it to fix up this camera? Or should I just save my money and get a better one?

For 50$ it is not worth it, save it for a newer camera, which will be alot better, no matter how cheap you go...

so for the past year or so I have been pining for a 50mm 1.4 lens since my other two lenses not only have shit performance in any sort of low light (no joke I cant even take pictures indoors without a flash unless im standing in direct sunlight with those motherf*ckers) but they cant do any sort of macro photography which I would die for.

so for the past year I've been saving up for a new lense but due to various expenses Ive had no luck and its been really bumming me out.

yesterday I found out my dad had a Nikkon 55mm 2.8 micro that was just laying around in storage since he stopped shooting years ago. it was there the entire time.

so anyway I've gone crazy shooting anything and everything I can.

This thing is so damn sharp, even at low shutter speeds.

anyway so here are some things I shot yesterday: nothing special but I like some of them

Hey guys, first time poster in this thread. I only picked up a camera in february so I'm still learning how to shoot. I don't have a lot of gear but I'm happy with the equipment I've got so far - I use a canon 600D with 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS II and I also have a new toy - Canon 50mm prime 1.8 I figured I'd just post some stuff up because I always like browsing other peoples photos for inspiration. Theres some fantastic stuff in this thread, I can't wait to get as good as you guys

Hey check out this photo... I'm still a newbie though, I'm still studying several photoshop techniques as well as composition and other things. I got a Nikon D3100 recently, any useful tips for a beginner? Thanks

First time poster(i think), long time lurker! Last semester I took two photo classes for my major. I finally saved up the money and bought a camera for myself a while ago. Nothing special, just pictures from this event. What I'm posting is larping fyi.

I really want to try some legit projects with this new lense.

What would be some good projects for a beginner photographer?

I feel like people are easy so i want to shoot some objects like food or scenery or something.

Thanks man! Arizona. First one is from the top of A mountain by Sun Devil Stadium. Second one is the light rail from Tempe Beach Park. Third is Downtown PHX on a random saturday.

How you arrange the objects in the photo, how you use lines etc. You should definitely study it if you enjoy it, you'd be really good.
