But Amorphis and Abhorrence don't really have the same kind of connection as Nihilist/Entombed and Mantas/Death do. They are just two separate bands. They only have one member in common and that is T.Koivusaari and he isn't even the main songwriter in Amorphis.

It just sounds silly to classify early Death albums as Mantas. When talking about your favorite bands why not say "early Death" if you dont want to include the progressive era. The same way people include Metallica in their favorite lists.
