Shawn Lane Documentary!

What's up, UG? I'm trying to let as many people as possible know about a project I am involved in. That project is THE OFFICIAL SHAWN LANE DOCUMENTARY film. This is being done with the blessings of the Lane family and the support and/or participation of players like Jason Becker, Rusty Cooley, Joel Hoekstra, and many others. We are running an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds and spread the word. Here is the link:

Also, here is the press release about the film with more info. Thanks for your support!!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

THE OFFICIAL SHAWN LANE DOCUMENTARY FILM PROJECT LAUNCHES INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN TO COMPLETE THE MOVIE AND PRESERVE THE LEGACY OF ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITARISTS EVER!

THE OFFICIAL SHAWN LANE DOCUMENTARY is a labor of love by film-making husband and wife Scottie and Loren Mack intended to document and preserve the legacy of guitarist Shawn Lane (1963-2003), who is considered by many to be the greatest guitar player in history. Known as The Memphis Monster, Lane possessed an amazing combination of technique and musicality that left large footprints on the guitar community during his lifetime and whose influence is still being felt to this day amongst modern shredders. This project has the full backing and approval of The Shawn Lane Estate and family, who want to see Shawn’s story told properly. It will provide a true behind-the-scenes look at Lane, his music, and his life informed by members of his family, many long-time friends, and some of the top guitarists in the world today, including Jason Becker, Rusty Cooley, Todd Duane, Milan Polak, Nita Strauss, Xander Demos, Alex Masi, Glenn Proudfoot, Per Nilsson, Jasun Tipton, Annie ‘Shred’ Grunwald, Kelly Sundown Carpenter, as well as countless other submissions by fans and friends. The email shawnlanedoc@gmail.com has been set up for ANYONE to submit a story, picture, or video with Shawn Lane content.

This is a movie with many ambitious goals. It will not be simply about Lane’s stellar playing, but will feature some of the greatest modern shred guitarists in the world giving their perspectives on Lane, his place in history, and his impact on them, personally. Everyone who has agreed to appear in the film has been gracious and humble and are eager to pay tribute to Shawn. They all believe the time has come to preserve his legacy in a manner fit for such an amazing musician and human being. The project is long on content, stories, family, friends, and talent, but short on funding. To that end, an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign has been launched to make the vision of this film a reality for present and future guitarists to benefit from. To contribute to the project, see the various levels of perks, and learn more about the film, please visit https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-official-shawn-lane-documentary--2.
