could someone please explain step by step how to change the tab to standard notation setting. would be appreciated muchly.

Go to Track
Then Properties (or just press F6) Then there should be three boxes for Slash, Standard, and Tablature. Check the Standard box, uncheck Tablature box.

There is no "track" button... Just open your Guitar pro song file and press F6, thats all.

as in, it is the most straightforward way possible to notate for the piano. I cannot imagine trying to read a giant ASCII graphical representation of a keyboard, a la guitar tabs.
