New York City Rock Scene in the 1970's.
If I had to pick another time to live in it would be New York in the 70's. So many great bands. This was punk rock. This was New York.
The Talking Heads Television The New York Dolls Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers The Voidiods Blondie Patti Smith The Dictators The Stooges Any good bands that I should know about? |

The Stooges were not New York.
![]() The Ramones ![]() The Neon Boys The Velvet Underground - it's revisionism to put them in the same category, but hey, the same is true for the Dolls Wayne County & the Electric Chairs - cool gimmick and a couple of good tunes Suicide Dead Boys Related: The Feelies - from New Jersey but had affinities w/ NY punk/new wave Marie et les Garçons - sorta France's ambassadors to NY punk. You hit the high points. You might wanna expand into the under-overhyped Cleveland scene of the '70s. Or, you know, you could live in the 21st century. Btw I don't think the Classic Rock forum cares about this stuff. Best take it to the punk forum where all the people that used to care about this stuff are. Like Rocket From The Tombs. David Thomas is awesome. I love Pere Ubu but that was more the 80's. |

Eh, Pere Ubu's first and most acclaimed 2 albums were in the '70s.
You dig The Electric Eels? They're my fave. |
