I like how you say that with conviction - with a Steve Vai avatar. Palm of face needed. Or just a good joke. I stand by the Vai comment anyway. |

The Splawn nitro would be ideal for that kind of stuff. Personally I like the Quickrod, which is known as basically a JCM on roids, smooth gain, middy, pretty normal marshall tone... does death metal very well because it cuts though like crazy.

My Nitro was originally Erock's just in case you didn't know
![]() I think I did some clips of it, not sure! I shall check! *edit* Yup, the song marked "Eh..." on my profile I also have a video uploaded on YouTube of the cleans here:

I'm not offended but I do like his mission statment, it's part of the reason is CS is so amazing imo.
but my question, Competition quickrod or nitro? I really really like the in your face umph and grind of the nitro but I want great plexi sounds to which one is for me?

^Thanks Derek
![]() I put the Mission Statement in here to demonstrate the man's passion. xwearesinking - I see what you are saying, it can catch someone off gaurd. MESAexplorer - Quick Rod ![]() Khoifish321 - Nitro ![]() 311ZOSO - Quick Rod ![]() Erock503 - (add Eric's) Brett - I don't know. The Nitro certainly has more saturation and modern voice. That clips that was just linked is killer. The main reason I went with a Quick Rod is: 1.) less expensive 2.) I was sold on the gears 3.) There are more of them 4.) Most of what I like/can play is Marshall based I guess ![]() 5.) Wants Nitro ![]() I think the key would be to go find the heaviest In Your Face clip you can find of a Qrod and if you like that- then you will have everything in one amp including a clean channel that you don't want (on the latter versions). Some would claim that the clean channel takes away from the some of the snarl of the earlier 3 preamp versions fwiw. I read on the splawn forums that the '09s will have a volume sweep control on the back panel that is tied to the effects loop.

I read that also 311 about the quickrod, I think it'll have enough gain it just doesn't seem to have the meat, but I do know I'm more of a vintage marshall guy so the Qrod or Comp will be best I think

I must say, I had a Splawn OS 212, but I traded it for an Orange PPC212. I'm not a traitor, am I? I loved the cab, but it really wasn't for me! Through my Marshall 2203KK, it sounded verrrry open, but I prefer more of a hard rock compressed tone which the Orange can achieve.
the Splawn had THE highest quality build I have EVER seem in a guitar cab. Nothing comes close to the build quality of Splawn!!!!!

Don't mean to burst into your thread, but the one guitarist from Inhale Exhale uses a Nitro. They are a fairly popular metalcore band with a fairly heavy sound.

It's unfortunate that UG won't appreciate Splawn much because all they know here is Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Peavey, and Line 6
![]() What they don't realize is that Splawn does the Marshall sound better than Marshall!

^I love that clip. I'll beef up the clips page when I get more time.
^true dat....I want to spread the word. Lead time for a new amp is already approaching 4 months so the way to go is used imo. There are quite a few for sale on the Splawn forum too. Necro - you are allowed in my threads anytime brother. Speaking of cabs - I had the opportunity to buy an Oversized Matching Splawn cab from the dude I bought the head from but I didin't have all my funds together and f'd around and he sold it to a friend instead. ![]() that said, I really like my closed back Avatar. Heritage 30 and Classic Lead 80.

After hearing clips of the Nitro I wanna save up some money for one when I start gigging. It sounds so heavy but so articulate. SICK!

Nitro. Splawn Nitro rips over any Marshall/Mesa at any sort of metal. http://splawnguitars.com/Nitroclip.mp3 http://splawnguitars.com/Nitro%20KT77%20HOD.mp3 http://splawnguitars.com/Nitro%20KT...dForTheGods.mp3 Quote:
How so? It's red, not pink if that's what you are thinking. Red looks absolutely phenomenal on some amps, and this is one of them! Here's a pic of my former cab, I kind of wish I kept it to match with the Nitro! Oh well, I've always wanted an Orange cab! ![]()
