Never really got much into grind but I've been listening to a lot of Ivebeenshot lately and seeing this thread has piqued my interest. I'm currently obtaining some Repulsion, Brutal Truth and Insect Warfare. I'm gonna go back and listen to my old Pig Destroyer albums.

What other grind bands should I look into? I didn't care for Nasum much. And I'd like some grind bands that put a little more thought into songwriting and actually have songs more than just a minute in length.

Arguments aren't pointless. You get to share your views with other people and debate them. They become pointless when it becomes a case of 'NO U!'

I really don't think you're one to be making generalizations about War Metal if you hadn't even heard Blasphemy until earlier in this thread.

Like, Grinding Messiah's mom.

What really got me into Grind back in the day was Repulsion. Something about that constant bombastic unrelenting and unforgiving sound opened up grinds appeal to me.

Why do you guys keep bringing that up?

My favorite grind bands right now are Pig Destroyer, Rotten Sound, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Nasum, Phobia, Splitter, and Atigama. I also like a lot of the heavier crust bands that sound pretty much borderline grind like Martyrdod, Skitsystem, and Sayyadina.

Shorter songs require just as much, if not more, thought then longer ones. It's alot harder to condense all your thoughts into 16 seconds.

Nope I bought 'Gods of War' last year. I just replayed it to make sure it was infact black metal.

I would agree that Blasphemy are actually, at heart, Black Metal, but listen to something like Conqueror or Revenge, you surely can't classify that as Black Metal. If anything it's closer to Grindcore than Black Metal.

Recommend me some seriously mind blowing grind. I don't listen to the genre at all, except for a few isolated essentials.

Show me your moves.

Was that meant to be a Captain Falcon reference, or was that just an accident?

Repulsion, Blood (Ger), The Day Everything Became Nothing, Gridlink, ****... I'm Dead, Impetigo, Insect Warfare, Kill the Client, Multiplex, Mumakil, Nasum, Necrophil, Nuctemeron (Bra), Prophecy of Doom, Regurgitate, Terrorizer.

Definitely a reference.

Only ones I know are Prophecy of Doom, Repulsion, and Blood. I'll get on it.

I made a huge list on page 1. But I'll strip it to my most favourite...

Magrudergrind

Insect Warfare

Pig Destroyer

Benumb

And, because I am still their #1 fanboy...

So have Running Wild with 'pirate metal' but really?

Blackened death is a really gay term (just call it black/death ffs), and the stuff that gets called that is nothign like War Metal. if you're gonna balk at the term War Metal, then Balckened Death is just as bad by your logic. Plus, by comparing it to Pirate or Battle metal you're drawing the conclusion that it is a loose confederacy of topic - linked bands, which it is not, lyrical content is not the main component in defining War metal.

I'm seeing Repulsion on Sunday. I am, like totally, psyched.

Anyways, while they don't play grindcore anymore, any love for old The Locust?

The Locust is weird as f-ck. I don't like them all the time, but when I do they are amazing.

I've heard of Abaddon Incarnate, haven't heard though.

The Locust era with Teenage Moustache is pure shit.

How is it a pointless argument? I don't get why everyone on this site is so argument sensitive. Arguing is natural.

You mean like Blasphemy? Blasphemy are supposedly a 'war metal' band but are just black metal with a little influence here and there with war as a lyrical theme.

What? That post makes no sense at all. Blackened death is an accurate description of the music whereas war metal isn't as it's just based off a lyrical theme.
