What's the score in America as far as riding goes? Over here we have to get a provisional license, do a CBT, take a theory test, then do module 1 then module 2.

If you fail any you can't do the next one. CBT is easy, but lots of people are failing Module 1 which is sorta off road manoeuvering of the bike.

Ahh yeah. I'm hoping to have my full license by the end of the year. My girlfriend's got a full license but she's 20 in September and she passed on her 18th birthday so her 'probation' period for riding up to 33bhp isn't up until then, so i'm hoping to have mine done by then so we can go on a summer rideout across France and into Spain next year - on a couple of 650's.


I know what i'd do with that......Yamaha R1, Gixxer1000 and probably a KTM SMT!

I'm hoping to start riding and getting the license and all that in a year, when I'm 18! I'm in USA.

I'll start off with some used, not too powerful bike and get used to it then move up in the motorcycle world. I really like bikes with simple color schemes, and I particularly like white, so this is like the dream motorcycle for me aesthetics wise (I think the body design is sexy too):

If you wanna go on a ride out across France and Spain, get a Honda Pan European.

My dad did a couple of rides down to Slovenia (where he's from) on his and he had no complaints.

Yeah - it's a great way to spend a day. I'll sometimes coordinate a day off work with friends, or we'll take off for a saturday or sunday, and clock in 600km-700km in a day. Riding through Europe would be fantastic.

Yeah it looks amazing - i especially like the thought of actually going, staying somewhere for a week then riding back (obv just me and the missus).

^^ That Ducati up there in white/great looks amazing - never really seen one in anything but red before! I think i actually prefer it.

^ Yeah i would do it on a bigger bike, the pan europeans are like sitting in cars, if not comfier depending on the suspension.

^Mechanixx, just to throw my opinion out there, I think that on looks, the second bike is incredible, the first one, not as much. I think it's the mid-section being closer to the front wheel on the second one, making it look fuller and more aggressive, and also the wheels look less like a bicycle on it.

I really like naked bikes. Cool stuff.

ah the first one is a beautiful oldschool british bike (now made in inda though), nothing aggresive or in your face, but a small cafe-racer type.

love that bike in the picture btw, looks insanely cool.

Ah, well they're both great looking bikes don't get me wrong, I just would take the second one personally But it's really about what you intend to use it for I guess. And your own personal style and whatnot.

I had 2 crashes in the space of 3 months recently because of them. The last one wasn't too bad as I dropped the bike before I hit the car, but I went right into the side of the first one, leaving me with a broken wrist and a written off DRZ400.

Badass hog one



My badass hog number the second. On one of my favorite roads to boot.

I wanted to buy a Valentino Rossi replica helmet but I looked into it and they're like $600-700 each.

So I'll pass.

I saw a guy selling an old 1982 450 Hondamatic the other day and I wanted it SO bad but he didn't have a title.

And I ain't gonna buy a title-less bike.



Here you take a written test to get your permit.

Then you schedule a road test after a few months.

Then you get yer license without any restrictions.

The road test (in NYS anyway) consists of 2 figure eights, 2 circles (one in each direction) and then regular street riding.

Piece of cake. Lots of our states don't even have helmet laws

After reading reviews and pro comments etc I think I might go for one of these actually. Good rising position, nice pull through the entire rev range, good mileage. Sounds perfect for a first large bike.
