International Big words

Do you use them?

I don't mean for school or anything, but just in your regular interactions with people.

If so, why? Do you feel like it truly conveys your thoughts in a more precise manner, or is it really because you want to assert your mental superiority to your comrades in an deliberate obfuscation?

I have used the word obfuscation or some other derivative of it in conversation before.

It's wasteful to use a big word when you could use a small word instead

I try to use more appropriate words where possible but I'm not gounna use jargon or technical language unless we're having a conversation that warrants their use.

Not sure if I spelled it right, but yeah. Definitely use it all the time

Every word is a big word in Finnish.

If I do, it's because it flows better in that particular context It's the same reason a musical composition uses phrase X instead of phrase Y. In the mind of the composer, phrase X sounds better than phrase Y would in the context of the piece. Same logic applies to spoken phrasing.

Plus certain words and phrases with the same meanings have different connotations. "Be quiet" and "shut up" both mean the same thing, but one has a harsher connotation than the other most of the time.

Pot at times I think there are no words but these to tell what's true

when I need them.
I am not a very eloquent speaker, but I would say I am pretty well read & generally good with written language (at least compared to a lot of people), so sometimes "big words" are just a part of how I think -- and, by extension, talk; so, in that sense, they convey my thoughts in a more precise manner. I do not use big words just to dazzle other people with the breadth of my vocabulary (rossencrantz).

Definitely do. I like words that have a lot of specificity to them.

I've also been trying to swear a lot less lately. I realize that people who swear often seem to come off as unintelligent.

I sometimes use big words, mostly just to annoy people for my own amusement

Sometimes I'll talk about correlation or how how things correspond respectively. I don't try to sound like a wanker; I just talk how I think.
