its a piece of crap, if your going to spend money on a good amp, get a tube amp.

don't get the peavey vypyr - it's just like the MG, you don't need a practice amp that's as gigantic as that. if you really need a big loud amp there are loads of suggestions here already.

I would suggest a Marshall JCM600 head or combo. All tube, not as much gain as a JCM800 but I'm thinking it's plenty for Hendrix, Clapton or Zep.

Just get a Peavey Classic 30 and an OD pedal and be done with it. No need him having a halfstack, let alone a 50 watt one.

+1, remember what happened when they brought dinosaurs back? Samuel L Jackson got eaten by a raptor. Just goes to show, don't bring things back from the dead.

I would definitely say a very positive yes. Most people are just opinionated and usually their opinion is based not on their own observations but what someone else is saying. I have personally compared an MG50FX to a Marshall MA50C and actually liked this one better. It has more complexity in the metal tones and the cleans are clearer. It was also much cheaper.
Don't believe tube snobs try it out for yourself and then decide.
