for making a wooden washer, I'm not sure what they're called, but I think it's a hole saw. like, it's an attachment you can put on a power drill that cuts a hole.
it leaves you with a disc of the wood you were drilling through, with a hole in the middle. if you just use one of those on your choice of wood, it'll give you a round circle and all you need to do is sand the edges to look nicer, and maybe widen the center hole

i might've explained that bad, but do you know what i mean?

edit: yep, it's called a hole saw

James, those are primarily for drilling a large hole into the work, the leftover inside the hole saw is just the cutout, the smaller bit is there to start/center the drilling. That said, it might work, but I'd recommend testing it on scrap if you don't have much wood.

I know it's for drilling big holes, but I was talking about using the offcut center bit as the useful part

I might go with a stainless steel washer if I can find one that works.

If not... opinions on using a quarter? I think it might look cool.

Not as cool as a .50 piece.

EDIT:

I apologize for the first photo being out of focus. The lighting in my room is really hard to work with.

Actually it's worked out great so far. I wasn't sure about whether to place the pin on the upper or lower half of the split at first, so I just went with the bottom and it worked. Might want to put a straplock there now that I think about it, but my strap's hole is nice and tight at the moment
