How to Play NORWEGIAN ACOUSTIC TAPPING SHRED METAL (the "Sound Off" Thread!)
OK, so maybe this thread has nothing to do with Norway, tapping, shredding, or metal, (yet) but it got your attention, right? That's successful advertising right there. Before you leave in a fit of rage to go find Yngwie Malmsteen tabs, check out some of acoustic guitarists in this thread.
Here's the low down... This is an open-to-everyone, non-competitive, acoustic music sharing thread. If you've got a mic, a guitar, and a few spare minutes, we want to hear what you can do. Whether your a novice or a professional, don't worry. NO ONE IS HERE TO JUDGE! Let's try to keep criticisms constructive and friendly (though I wouldn't expect anything less from the Acoustic forum), and have some fun with it. THE RULES: -Each song MUST contain at least one acoustic guitar. -Include the song name, who it's by, and any other good stuff that should be known about it. -The location of each song submission must be clearly specified with a posted link (so we don't need to go over to your profile image) and directions to get to the particular song(s) if needed. -No copyrighted material, of course. -Covers and originals are both allowed, but covers must be clearly attributed to the original artist. -No tasteless comments or otherwise inappropriate responses (that's a given) -Contribute as much as you possibly can, because we're all curious to hear it! -RulEDIT 1: Keep irrelevant posts to a minimum. -RulEDIT 2: Feel free to approach posters (through PM's please) for copies of only their completely original material (to the submitters, that means DO NOT DISTRIBUTE COVERS, unless you have explicit, documented permission from the creator and copyright holder, which you probably don't). I'm willing to share my originals if anyone has their heart set on them. So I'll start off. Here's a recording of Sloop John B., by the Beach Boys, that I learned and recorded over the span of about an hour a little while ago. I think it came out pretty well, considering the circumstances and the fact that I'm incorrigible with recording equipment. Never mind the the 15 second silence at the beginning. It is second on the song list and can be found HERE. Just to make things easier for you, here is the master list of contributed songs: -Sloop John B., a Beach Boys cover: Contributed by yours truly -Toi et Moi, an Antoine Dufour cover: Contributed by Silverstein14 -Daydreaming, an original: Contributed by Silverstein14 -Eddie's Gun, a Kooks cover: Contributed by yours truly -Unintended, a Muse cover: Contributed by ZeroChan -Untitled, a Carl McLaughlin cover: Contributed by BeautifulDiskiz -2:45 AM, an Elliot Smith cover: Contributed by illinihoops -The Sad Waltzes Of Pietro Crespi, an Owen cover: Contributed by SKAtastic7770 -She Moves in Her Own Way, a Kooks cover: Contributed by davrossss -Wonderwall, an Oasis cover: Contributed by ZeroChan -7-14, a Andy McKee cover: Contributed by Rallymonkey -Heather's Song, an Andy McKee cover: Contributed by ROMEO2413 -Rylynn, an Andy McKee cover: Contributed by ROMEO2413 -Flying Without a Net, an original: Contributed by twelvestringtex -This Means War, an original: Contributed by twelvestringtex -Frankenjura, an original: Contributed by twelvestringtex -Come Together, a Beatles cover: Contributed by davrossss -Spur of the Moment, an original: Contributed by WaltTheWerewolf -In with the Purple, Out with the Blue, a Craig D'Andrea cover: Contributed by Silverstein14 -The Future, an original: Contributed by CptRevell -Working Class Hero, a John Lennon cover: Contributed by mcNdave -Starlight High Tide, an original: Contributed by Dreadnought -Big Me, a Foo Fighters cover: Contributed by yours truly -You Belong to Me, a Jason Wade cover: Contributed by roamingbard13 -Church Clothes, a Matt Nathanson cover: Contributed by roamingbard13 -Angeles, an Elliot Smith cover: Contributed by garfgarfgarf -A song about his dad, an original: Contributed by Silverstein14 -An Ode to Robes, an original: Contributed by JamesLPs -Semi-charmed Life, a Third Eye Blind cover: Contributed by turncoat60% -Bleeder, an Alkaline Trio cover: Contributed by turncoat60% -Hyperion, an original: Contributed by Dreadnought -Sensible Heart, a City and Colour cover: Contributed by ZeroChan -Final Fantasy Battle Song, a cover: Contributed by Annonymorse -Cocaine Blues, a Townes Van Zandt cover: Contributed by brandonian -Spiral, a Bozzio, Levin, and Stevens cover: Contributed by Starscr3am -Out of Body, Not of Mind, an original : Contributed by Natrone -Use Somebody, a Kings of Leon cover: Contributed by talor93 Now what have you got for us, acoustic forum?!? Sweet, here's a video of me (relatively crappy quality, got my new mic 10 minutes prior to filming and had no clue how to use it
). It's a cover of Antoine Dufour's - Toi et Moi.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSri...re=channel_page Working on my own composition lately, and it's coming along great. Hope to finish it in the next few days and I'll post it. Comments appreciated! |

Fact is, this thread isn't about being able to locate countries. The thread has been going for a few minutes and already someone is off topic. Contribute to the thread or leave. |

Silverstein, I liked the cover you did, it sounded nice. Maybe I'll get around to posting a cover of something (or maybe this original composition I've been working on a bit...perhaps...).
and GC Shred Off, I've got an idea; Maybe you should make a list in the first post (or in a post somewhere) with all of the links to the videos, So they're all in one place instead of scattered throughout the (freshly started) thread. Just an idea.

I'll probably end up posting a Buckethead video sometime, once I figure out how to get decent recording quality.

It's such a shame I have such an awesome microphone but a crap guitar. It could pick up a fly farting but my axe isn't up to much. Not to mention I don't know songs all the way through like I said.
Might do a Tommy Emmanuel Medley if I can get out to get some strings tomorrow. |

Hey GC, can you change that rule about distributing the original material? If the song is composed by a user here then it's fine to distribute. Copyrighted materials can't be distributed though.
Btw, thanks for taking a lead on this thing. Much appreciated. ![]() If I have enough time between work and softball, I'll try to hash something out. Maybe 1 2 3 4 by Feist or Let That Be Enough by Switchfoot.
