Anyone hear of J&D Brothers Guitars?
Has anyone heard of this brand? They seem to be an Asian company that produces copies of Gibson, Ibanez, PRS, and other big name guitar brands.
I'm asking because I'm thinking about buying one of their LP copies at this local store. I want to be resasonably sure it's a reliable brand of guitar before I buy it. Their website is www.jandd-guitars.com

Go on, you know you want to...
I've got the J&D Brothers LS-5 and have had it for 2 years without any fault. I have never played a Gibson but my J&D has a nice tone (something one of the shop guys admitted to me with a 'tone' of surprise in his voice sometime after I bought it) and it has a good action. I got it new for half the price of the equivalent Epiphone.
The only thing I can say about it that is not good is some minor things in its finish. The binding along the edge of the neck in one spot has needed a little bit of filler (done in the factory), but you only notice that if you look close, and that the wood grain is lost a little behind the layers of varnish. Have a close look at the one that takes your fancy for these details. But these things are all good, solid wood. I've upgraded my amp to a 50W Laney LH50R II valve amp as the guitar was better than my Roland Cube 30X would allow it to be. So try it out and see what YOU think. I am not the least bit ashamed of my 'no name' J&D Brothers imitation Les Paul. Here's a picture of mine: Last edited by bmt3nz : 06-23-2009 at 06:30 AM. |

Maybe it's because I come from London, but why, oh why, would you call a company "Jack & Danny Brothers"
For those that don't come from London, we sometimes use rhyming slang - "Jack & Danny" = "Fanny" (and even that means something different this side of the Atlantic) ![]() |
