but yeah, basically, it has some earlier recordings of the same songs, some of the songs sound pretty different too

Phil Swanson is the link between those two bands, he left Hour Of 13 and apparently has reformed Vestal Claret though

Pretty damn good doom. Call to Satan and Grim Reality FTW.

Shame they lost Swanson. His vocals were excellent and easily my favorite part of the band.

Not a bad band at all. Pretty cool stuff, you're right about the vocals sounding like Rob Halford's vox. Well, kind of like Rob and Ozzy had a lovechild. Which is wierd. Well, not for Rob...but you get the drift. Pretty cool band.

It's a shame the singer Phil left, I really enjoyed the vocals most of all. Anyone have a link, I can't find any? My internet skills are lacking.

"Although a lot of you are awaiting the disclosure of the new vocalist for Hour Of 13, I cannot reveal that as of now...

BUT... To bide us time before the new album, Hour Of 13 has joined up with label End Of The World (records) for an exclusive reissue of the debut Hour Of 13 album, but with new additions:

The 2xCD version will include a bonus disc containing all of the Hour Of 13 demos. This will forever close the door on the first chapter of Hour Of 13, and allow the new era to be revealed...

500 LP versions will be released in gatefold cover, containing the LP on red/purple/black wax and will also include the demo CD with different artwork, a patch and various stickers and buttons.

T-Shirts are being designed as of now and will probably be offered before the reissue is released. Other merch ideas are being discussed and will be released in the future.

It is sad that this whole scenario has manifested itself, but is now deemed a necessity and will allow Hour Of 13 to expand and even moreso, grow.

HOUR OF 13 LIVES!"

As others have said, this is very Sabbathy, but bloody good nonetheless. I need to buy some weed to smoke to Possession.

Wish I didn't have to spend all of my money on college/apartment or I would order some of their stuff.

I like this a lot. A lot of people mentioned that this sounds like Black Sabbath. I agree wholeheartedly. Their singer sounds a lot like Ozzy.

He doesn't sound too much like Ozzy. It's mainly the instruments that give it a Sabbathy feel.

about strangelholds post, where they're saying they're not announcing the singer...it says in the band members section of their page that some bloke called R. Pritchard is the vocalist.

Good stuff indeed

Edit: Wow, talk about tasteful solos. I like these just as much as Mournful Cries era Saint Vitus and that's saying allot!

a myspace bulletin i got from hour of 13...

Hour Of 13 are proud to welcome the arrival of vocalist Robb Pritchard into our coven of shadows. Robb has been a friend of ours for many, many years as we were in a band together (with Corey Leonard) when we were 17 years old! Robb was originally first choice whent he conception of Hour Of 13 happened, but scheduling conflicts denied the union then, BUT, no longer... His arrival has already produced some greatly needed changes and added and amazing amount of energy into the band. None shall be displeased!!

Hour Of 13 also welcomes Corey Leonard as permanent second guitarist. His skills as a lead player and recording engineer on the debut album are sheer necessity to the band, and he has already proven a great writing writing craft as well. A most important asset and a great friend as well!

The 2009 demo tracks will soon be removed and re-worked. As these tunes were written for the new album, so shall they appear, but albeit quite differently with the new vocals / lyrics and recording. The new album will also feature the arrangement for a full choir to perform rather unholy atmospheres for the record, something that has been pondered for a few past months. Hour Of 13 will also be doing the following cover tunes for B-sides and hidden tracks:

"Season Of The Witch" - Donovan
"To Walk The Night" - Samhain

Rehearsals will be picking up in progress now with the solidification of the main part of Hour Of 13, so expect a possible live debut by years' end.

To all of our fans / supporters: You are indespensable!!! Many darkened hails for your support and thank you.

In Doom,
C. Davis
