I was gunna put this in a different forum, but all the people like scheck, Goverman, Big Sur Moon, and all you other bastards that rule at Powertab end up reading here... so....

What I was wondering is is there an online guide on how to use powertab... I've figured out some on my own, but I really wanna learn how to insert "let rings" and fades and crap like that that I cant do now for some reason... If someone could either give me some tips on how to use Powertab or direct me to an online guide, your help would be GREATLY appreciated...

anyhoo, you have to hit the button that looks like a sideways V,
to the right of the fade button and then you choose starting and ending volume.

thanks, but now I have another question after screwing around with PTB for awhile...

How do you get 2 parts to play in unison... I figured out how to use 2 seperate guitars to play the parts, but not how to play them in unison... please help me...

like a harmony part?

you need to make 2 staffs in one section


so

gtr 1
-------------------------------------------------

gtr 2
--------------------------------------------------




then you need to put guitar ins on both staffs

you add a guitar in by going to the guitar menu

if you only have one guitar, then you make another one by going to setup on the same menu and clicking the red guitar

if you just want 2 guitars to play the same thing,

add 2 guitar ins, just on the same space

Ok I think I understand... I inserted a whole new section... not a staff... cuz I'm a full and complete ******... Also, I'm not very good with music period, So if someone with a kind heart wants to explain to me the simple way to understand what a time signature means... like I understand beats per measure, but I don't really get what the other number tells you... so please help... I've been playing guitar for 9 months and I don't know this... I'm screwed

Well, i understand it but can't exactly explain it. My best guess would be to check musicians talk and post a question about it in there. there are plenty of knowledgable guys who will explain it thoroughly for ya there.

My other guess would be to get guitar lessons just for a while. I didn't think I needed lessons but my parents made me and it actually helped me out a lot. Just enough to get a basic introduction to reading music, scales and soloing etc, is all you need, i'm not suggesting you follow them religiously, but if you can find a decent teacher than it'd be worthwhile.

yeah, I've been thinking about that, but most of the teachers that I've looked into have seen like the really gay kind that take crap way too slow so they can milk you for your $$ you know? but yea, I really need to learn some theory, I know some, like some scales and crap... but I want to be like Deftone, knowing more than I ever need to

Ah? the time signature question

The top number is how many beats in a measure; you know that already apparently. The bottom number is what value note it is. Most of the time this will be a 4, representing that each quarter note = 1 beat. Sometimes you'll see 8, meaning each eighth note is 1 beat. The only numbers you'll see on the bottom are 2, 4, 8, and 16. It's possible for it to be 32, 64, and on and on but seriously, who conducts 32nd notes?

Sometimes you'll see odd time signatures such as 17/16, which means 17 sixteenth notes per measure.

and let rings, you just take the notes that you want to let ring, and then push the let ring button.

if you are talking about tying notes, you just push "y"

or the button with two notes and a line between them on it.

I have another question... how do you do mutes... not palm mutes... but like in regular tab when you put x's on the strings... I tried hitting x and it doesn't work so please help me...

um, you put your hand over the strings...

there's a button on the bottom right that has an X note on it. you select the note with the blue curser and then push the botton in. the note will change to a mute note.

the fifth is the note above that on the A string.
