Well, I suppose I'll start my own thread for this sorta thing, seeing as how I'm designing my own body and all.

On to it!

This is the updated deisgn. I wanted it to be a mix of a fender-esque body silouhette design, mixed with the SG bevelling wood type, and sound. I've decided to call it the 'Fusion'



So I bought the Mahogany, Milled it down, and began to file away the bevel. In retrospect, I probably should Have done the cavities first off so It could be centered easily ... live and learn.

Neck, Pickups (burstbuckers), Electronics (pots, wires, switch, jack) bridge came in, so I could finally start coring out the body.

Because school ended, and thus I had no shop, I couldn't really do much. So, I fooled around with colors and with the neck. i've decided on a Warm Red to Orange burst thing. however, the pegboard is wrong. Originally, I had wanted to do a Trey Anastasio pegboard, However with time I deemed that to be unoriginal, not to mention it didn't really go with the body. So I came up with a new headstock (can be seen in the design picture) which I've decided to use.

So I'm back in a shop for at least an hour a day ... hopefully it'll get done in the next 4 weeks. Or at least the body, and the finish.

I've changed it so that instead of a flat face, its a smooth, curved bevel like in the design pic. I've also Begun to router out the tremolo cage and electronics cavity. Once thats done, I'll use some thin planks of mahogany (1/2 inch) to make cavity covers for the tremolo and electronics , trace their outline, and router out on those lines 1/2" in so they sink evenly in.

Whee. this is fun. I want to make more ... I even have another design ... this time for a bass.

No i think he said somewhere else that he was building the body but getting a neck off warmoth. Not sure though.

Also thats not an original body style, i can't remember which guitar uses it but i've seen it somewhere but hey looks really good.

Wish i had the tools to build my own bass, but i don't so i guess i'm going to have to buy one.



Edit: ignore what i said about the neck i was mixing him up with someone else.... arrrggghhh too many people building guitars.

I bought the neck off stewmac, and i'll be re-inlaying it to suit my liking, and binding it if I can. The wood I got at a nearby woodstore, and the electronics off of stewmac and a nearby guitar store.
