Fen - Atmospheric Black Metal/Post-Rock

Great new band, they only have one EP out but it reminds me of a mix between Agalloch's The Mantle, Drudkh, Wolves In The Throne Room, etc. The atmosphere they create is amazing.

I wasn't too sure about them from what I heard on the myspace, but I downloaded the EP anyways and I'm happy I did.

Enjoy (or not).

Their demo is pretty good (although it has no damn packaging!), hoping to hear something pretty special in the future.

Yeah, I've definitely got my eye on these guys. If their EP is any indication of what's to come, I'm excited.

Listening to The Gales Scream of Loss right now, and I really like it.

Code666 just slays when it comes to this kinda stuff. Fen is no exception, I can't wait to hear more from them in the future.

Yeah, that's what intrigued me the most was the combination. And I have to say it works surprisingly well, too.

Just listening to the stuff on the myspace, it's awesome. Brilliant atmosphere, surprisingly relaxing for black metal.

Ah, it is indeed. The Gales Scream of Loss is incredible.

And Sleepwalker, no problem. Bands like Fen definitely need more exposure/recognition.

So are those the only two songs they've got out at the moment?

They have an EP/demo, which contains The Gales Scream of Loss and two others. It's called Ancient Sorrow.

It leaked ages ago. And yes it is an awesome album. And unless you can find me another band bringing out a debut this year then it will be the best of '09.
