First Tier - Surface bands anyone can get into and are good starting points for people.

Second Tier - Solid bands with consistent material but don't push boundaries.

Third Tier - Best of the best who helped mold and pioneer the genre.

Or switch it around, but that's the gist of it.

They're all pretty damn surface level though... which is kinda the problem with Djent it would seem. There is absolutely no depth in the scene at all.

Could maybe add Chimp Spanner to that list? People seem to bum that guy.

jwizzle5786 JJ Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Maryland	I guess some "mid-tier" djent would be Uneven Structure, Destiny Potato, David Maxim Micic, Akeldama, The Safety Fire, Skyharbor. Low tier would be Volumes and S_t//r..u-T(u(R*e)s, really most plural bands outside of Monuments. Just go look at the lineup for the UK Tech Festival and you'll have all the djent you need.

I'm not an expert on djent, or Sikth, but you're basically just saying that the term has to come before the sound it describes. And I think people were indeed referring to them as a seminal band in the movement, more so than an actual djent band.

So did you totally miss the 4 other subgenres posted in not-imperceptible sized font on the left side of their homepage? lol

Speed Metal (what I call thrash metal)
Heavy Metal"

Those four, along with death and black metal and SUCCESSFUL hybridization of subgenres, pretty much accounts for everything that else that might be considered metal music (in that doom metal is melodically very dissimilar from heavy metal, just slower and more meloncholy).

I'm not very familiar with the Doors but I can only presume that there is some aspect of their music which ANUS appreciates.
