Okay, simple question. I know I need to replace the input jack on my marshall mg412 cab (mg, I know, I'm broke though and it gets me by) only problem is, it's at my friends house. I just need to know what kind of jack to buy, or anyone that can link me to find out. I am ready to place an order I just need to know how many terminals the jack is. thanks

It will be 2 contact.
As far as I can tell you need 2 contacts with spade bit capability.... something like this: http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/a...1-#.UO6cFXdwc14

Just a quick one, i want new tuners/machine heads for my guitar. It has a Bigsby B7 and a new bone nut.
What tuners would you recomend? Max price £50. Is it worth getting locking or just standard? I prefer the kluson or 'keystone' look.

I had one question, but Patty's comment above me piqued my curiosity.
1) Is there a Vox amp sticky somewhere? I thought there was, but I'm only finding smaller threads like "Vox Valvetronix vs. Line 6," etc. I want to ask about modding a Vox Valvetronix VT15 (adding an effects loop). And yes, I'm using Vox's website, as well. I like gathering several opinions even if they all turn out to be very similar. 2) Are "pots" the volume/tone knobs and the electronics 'underneath' them?

1) I don't know about the vox thing.
2)Pot is short for potentiometer, it's a component which allows for variable resistance, these come in different forms, the dimmer switches like in a house are potentiometers just as the knobs in your amp and guitars are. The ones in your amps and guitars are rotary potentiometers, which look like thise ![]() Only the shaft (the part sticking straight up) is what shows through, the rest of it is usually mounted behind a panel of some sort.

I figure this would fit in this thread the best. do y'all think i ahould do the 18v mod with a set of blackouts or is it not really worth it?

In my personal opinion, keep it simple. some people like the 18v mod, some don't. they sound just fine with the 9v and I actually think they sound better than the EMG actives. If you're not getting what you want out of actives with 9 volts and need more, then in that case, give the 18 volt a whirl. But I don't really think the 18v mod is really worth it with blackouts personally.
I also have a question of my own. In a stratocaster is it possible to wire the neck and middle pickups to a fender greasebucket tone circuit and wire the bridge pickup to a no load tone pot?

Anyone know of PRS-style kits available in the UK?
Currently I've found the ones on Amazon/Guitar-warehouse/diyguitarkits (stellah) which all seem to be the same, featuring a flamed maple top, and the ebay one which looks to be solid wood with no flamed top (but £30 cheaper) - see link below: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIY-Elect...=item417064e21a Can't seem to find the SAGA one many places for sale in the UK - buy-guitar-parts are selling it for £206... is it that much better quality to warrant the extra £60 over the others? It's probably the best looking of the lot though, what with just two control knobs and the switch being near these knobs and not in the Les paul position. Seen a few other options but they're pricey... not after creating a priceless axe, just something that'll play that I can put some effort into so it look the tits ![]() Some of the US kits can be posted, although that significantly adds to the cost (and will probably incur import duty on top) so there seems to be less choice here in the Uk than in the states. Just wondering if anyone has found a seller that isn't showing up on google.... Last edited by theditor : 02-14-2013 at 07:33 PM. |

you can try locking tuners and stretching your strings properly. I know stretching the strings in places will make a lot of difference on vintage style stratocaster trems, so i imagine the same theory would apply. try a youtoube search for that. it should be made by a guy named frauda or something like that. he's german or something so you can't miss him.

Hi
If anyone has any advice on where I can get an Italia Maranello pickguard from, I would be very grateful. Either a shop in the UK or site that delivers to the UK without an extortionate fee would be awesome. The only place I could find was moudrymusic.com, where the shipping to the UK was $140. Thanks in advance! |

Hey UG, I am in need of some help. I have an Ibanez RG1570z in boring black, and I want to repaint it. I've been reading a lot around the web and am pretty sure I know how to do it, but! I have no idea where to get supplies. What I want to do is paint the top green with a narrow black burst, and the sides and back a natural color.
As far as I can tell, what I should be using is analine water based wood dye, and I can not for the life of me find out where I can buy that stuff. I believe I also need some sort of sanding sealer and clear lacquer (some people say stuff like Tru Oil can be used instead ? ) and I don't know what sealer and lacquer I should choose and again, where to get it. I live in Denmark but im sure some German or UK shops will ship to other countries in EU. tl;dr where can I buy dye, sealer and lacquer for painting a guitar.

Followup to the previous question: Im pretty confident that I have found the right dye now. As for sealer and lacquer, I found out that you cannot legally ship it over the borders because its toxic, and Im having a hard time finding sealer here in Denmark, but as far as I can tell it's not a must use. Lacquer on the other hand is, and I don't know what to use. Will any clear gloss wood lacquer do ? This is basically the only thing I need to figure out, so if you could help me figure out the lacquer, im good to go.
