UPD8TZ0RZ!!!

So I routed out the pickup cavities and I got the final cut for the neck pocket done.

The neck is in the body, and guess what? even though it's a bolt on, it passes the ormsby neck pocket test

uploading pics soon...

yeah it's actually quite comfortable to hit anything up to the 19th fret. not as bad as you'd think.

I like everything except the headstock. It really doesn't fit IMO.

WARNING!!!! YOUR KILLSWITCH WITH NOT WORK!!! THE SIGNAL WILL BYPASS IT!!!

to wire a killswitch button, just place a push to make button over the jack lugs. so wire the guitar without one and then just as you do the jack socket wire the switch across the lugs (hot lug>wire>switch/button>wire> Ground lug) easiest way to add a killswitch. but you gotta have a push to make button for this.

I'm pretty sure thats what his schematic shows.

And just as an additional rant. I'm sick of this "push to make" way of saying N.O (Normally Open)

The Killswitch should just take your hot signal to ground when you push your button, or flick your switch. I think it's like the easiest wiring thing you can do.

Yeah, I thought it was mostly done on set necks though. Anywho, I just realized I did the test upside down (so that the fretboard and top of the body are facing up) to what Ormsby usually does.

Guess my pocket's tighter than I thought

Hmm I know it's probably too late for this comment to make any sort of difference, but wouldn't it look a little better if you had a paddle shaped headstock? I just feel like a paddle shape would match the body shape better than that ibby/strat hybrid you have going.

I know what you're sayin' hunter, but I started with a strat shape, and a new neck really wasn't in my budget.

Also, should be posting some updates some time today.

And going to GC later today to see if a banjo case will fit her.

Wrong. A killswitch doesn't go between the output jack, it send the hot signal to ground and gets wired off the 2nd lug of the volume pot and the ground signal.

By putting the push button directly on the output jack and simply cutting the signal, you will introduce hum to your amp as your guitar will act like its not plugged in and you'll get the same sound as you do if you leave your amp on and your guitar cable laying on the ground unplugged. By shunting the hot output to ground, so are essentially turning the volume to zero, but still keeping the signal loop intact and won't end up with as much hum or popping when you use the switch.

Well, I guess I'll worry about the wiring when I get to it.

I got a case and (because the universe wanted to laugh at me), It's a banjo case.

The electronics cavity is all routed out, but that's nothing big and I see no reason to take pics of the route or the case, so...I shan't.

Hopefully sometime this week I will cut the p/up holes and neck pocket out of the sign itself.

Does anyone have any suggestions/insights as to whether or not the vinyl will tear out when i cut it?

try pre-cutting with a knife before you cut.

or use a dremel (thats what i would use anyway )

^yeah, I was planning on maybe using an X-acto to cut off the vinyl in the areas I would be cutting off.

And I think I'll be using a drill press, scroll saw, and a spindle sander.
