Best follower I've had (not very many) was Seranna from the Dawnguard pack. Just picked up Dragonborn earlier today, liking it so far. Some of the armor is awesome looking, and I can't wait to make those ice-type weapons.

I'm looking forward to it a lot but...... I got Skyrim during the steam summer sale and have barely played it

I think it has to do with having played all of the guild missions on 360 already. I really want to get into it but I know I'll need nothing else to distract me, plus I need to find mods. I've looked a bit, it's intimidating. Can't figure out which ones I want.

Nexus is down atm so I can't link, but get Nexus Mod Manager and have a look at the top 100 list at the website. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/

Some mods I would recommend, especially if you're looking to make questing more interesting are mods like MadFrenchie's quests about the Thalmor, TEG Wizards of Winterhold (if you like magic), Moonpath to Elsweyr (which takes you to Elsweyr, the Khajiit homeland), Colossus - The Ancient Arena (well done mod that creates a version of the Arena like you had in Oblivion), and the Paarthurnax Dilemna (let's you decide whether you want to kill him or not). JSO Guild Requirements can be kind of cool too.

As for aesthetics, I would get all of the Towns and Villages Enhanced collection.

Also, the Unoffical Skyrim Patch and (if you got the DLCs) Unofficial Hearthfire Patch and Unofficial Dawnguard Patch are a must.

Edit:
Oh, and Deadly Combat and Dual Wield Parrying (note: default block key becomes v with this mod) are great, if you want more realistic combat. Find these two on Nexus, btw.

The hours I've spend playing these games is crazy, PS3 broke though so this is a painful reminder of what I use to have...

Skyrim doesn't require a gaming PC. Yeah, it may be better graphics-wise, but the devs were smart enough to know that making it require a gaming PC is just stupid. (Devs for a lot of other games don't seem to get this.)

Finally got around to downloading Dragonborn.

Erik the Slayer + the two thralled cultists = awesome. They just took down a Draugr Deathoverlord insanely easy.

EDIT: Where can I get the Fortify Alchemy enchantment? I know Muiri's ring has it but I killed all of the DB with this character.

Dragonborn is ****ing awesome, it's what I exactly what I wanted out of Skyrim in terms of new locations and quests. Despite being so dark and dreary Solstheim is very interesting.

YAY!

My friend sold me his 360 and bought me a copy of Oblivion GOTY!

I haven't played Oblivion as much as Morrowind or Skyrim, so I'm pretty friggin' stoked right now.

Oblivion's a good bit different, but it's probably my favorite, next to Morrowind.

My only issue with Oblivion is that there's much less to do. The factions are severely reduced compared to Morrowind; as a result, there's fewer quests and the world feels less busy.

I suppose. Shivering Isles was arguably the best expansion that TES has seen, except for maybe Bloodmoon.

I dunno, whenever I run out of actual developer-made quests, I just find my own ways to have fun.

My issues with Oblivion was with the level scaling and the fact that the dungeons were terrible. I didn't mind the guilds, particularly after playing Skyrim, as the guilds in that are barely even guilds.

The guilds in Skyrim are actually in the vein of Oblivion almost exactly. The problem is, there's very little restriction on joining guilds in Skyrim or Oblivion. For instance, you can join the thieves guild in both without having any significant skills in thieving (lockpicking, sneaking, etc.).

Also, the best part about Morrowind's guilds, imho, was that to advance in rank, you had to be of a certain amount of skill in skills that were directly important to that guild. (For instance, to advance in the Mages Guild or the Telvannis, you had to have Xamount of skill in one of the magic skills.)

In Oblivion and Skyrim, there literally is NOT enough guild related quests to justify such a system. As a result, you could be under lvl 25 and potentially be guildmaster in all guilds. There are mods that change this, adding more quests and skill lvl restrictions, but the devs really should have kept the Morrowind style factions. It was just so much more immersive in Morrowind.

This is true, although I would argue that Morrowind vanilla is much better than Skyrim or Oblivion, for the reasons I listed above about factions.

The Oblivion questlines were miles ahead of the Skyrim questlines though. Sure, maybe there weren't really skill requirements in Oblivion, but you had to advance through a lot of lower level quests that made you feel like you were starting out as just another member, having to do like seven quests before getting admittance to the Arcane University, and that's where things got started. And then through hard work ascend among the ranks. Eventually getting to important missions.

Take Skyrims' College of Winterhold for example. The first fucking thing you do after they showed you the place is to walk off (to an old city in the neighborhood they've had two eras to look at but never got around to) and become "the chosen one" that has to save the everything. You're special from the start, and you've beat the whole questline in almost the same amount of quests it took to get into the University in Oblivion.
