When I growl for about three songs I start to get dizzy.

Anything I can do to stop this?

Do some breathing exercises. It happened to me as well in the beginning.

the Wikihow guide says this:

Quote:
Don't use your throat muscles. If you feel vibrations in your head and not in your chest, you're using your throat. If the volume is very low, you're probably using your throat. Throat growling is acceptable, but it will hurt and will damage your chords. Practice those at your own risk.

But I can only barely feel my chest/stomach vibrating when exhaling?

Unfortunately I haven't. I myself have developed quite good lung stamina from skiing a lot during wintertime, so I haven't really had the need for it.

Well, I guess I didn't read far enough.

Just take deep breaths in between growls to get more oxygen in

Dizziness equals not breathing enough. Happened to me all the time back in junior high when I played tuba (tuba, fudge yeah!). The breathing excersize that a lot of people seem to like (which happens to be just like playing a wind instrument) is to blow out for as long as you can, then quickly breathe in, repeat. And you can do it with a metronome so you breathe out for x measures or whatever.

I play euphonium, and heres some breathing exercises that help for vocal too.

1. Get a metronome and set it at a moderate tempo.
2. Breath in for 4 beats, and then out for 4 beats.
3. Breath in for 4 beats, and then out for 6 beats.
4. Breath in for 3 beats, and then out for 6 beats.
5. Breath in for 4 beats, and then out for 8 beats.
6. Breath in for 2 beats, and then out for 6 beats.
7. Breath in for 2 beats, and then out for 8 beats.

Hope that helps, it's quite simple.

Ok, I know zero people that are into metal with growls in it, so it's kinda hard for me to get good feedback about my growls. People say it sounds similiar, and some other people say it sounds like burping >< I don't have any recording EQ so that's also not an option for me, so is it normal that other people say it sounds like burping? :O

Well that depends...is it burping like Psycroptic or burping like Benighted?

There are a few bands with that sound, but to me and most, it sounds like sh*t. I don't even like raspy growls, mostly since mine have always been very clean.

Well, those people who compared it to burping are teh n00bz at metal, so I can't say. Never heard of Benighted, but if it's Psycroptic style, I'm happy with that

Well it depends to be honest...because Chalky has his own style of singing/growling which is very weird, whereas the vocalist of Benighted has a very cliche growl...

can someone help me out, when i growl, it'll be going good got a deep ackerfelt Esq thing going, then my voice will go hoarse, and i can't get my good one back for about ten minutes. Am i doing it wrong, or is it something else? Also, after, my throat gets sore, but not sick-sore. The best i can describe it is like muscles after you work out sore. should this happen or am i again doing it wrong?

Anyone?

One more thing, today my throat's sore, like when you're sick. Should you feel a vibration in your chest while you're growling.
