Question Issues with HP device monitor/Mac

So while I'm home during winter break, I needed to use my dads printer. So I downloaded the drivers and whatnot, and I guess it installed (or tried to) something called HP device monitor. Since then I shut down my computer. Now every time I turn my computer on, I continuously get errors saying it isn't responding (the device monitor) and all the options (ignore, relaunch, etc.) do nothing. Is there something I can delete to stop these error messages?

Macs don't actually need downloaded drivers for printers, at least not HP's. I have an HP at home, and I just have it set up under the "universal printer driver" that OSX has.

You probably downloaded a virus.

Macs don't need to download printer drivers, especially for major brands like HP. My guess is that it tried to install incompatible software.

I had this problem too, stupid printer device installer. I went out and bought a lap top rather than fix it.

Sorry, not much help but I can sympathize. Wipe and reinstall everything? That's all I got and it's extreme.

^ That sure is true. You may have changed some default settings or a virus that is really bugging you every time you turn it on. Well, the best thing you can do is to uninstall the driver that you recently installed there.
