for all the Dove chasers.
we whispered to one another and
without wasting a bottomless breath,
she moved on with an irenic tone.
borderline serenity from a post-auditory hum
she slowly danced across my cheek,
and with an amalgam of sophistication and ineptitude
our whiskers skimmed across each other,
like wind chimes singing in tune.
this is where my wild things are, tossing yarn back and forth
day dreaming of one another as we glance across our milk saucer
playing these games of cat and mouse
a polemic demand to be the one chasing
and not the one being chased.
this is where my wild things are, throwing my ears back to say
world, oh my, my world ive come bearing fang and claw
to scratch my way through the compost of society.
together my kitten faced beauty, we could catch all the carp we desire
we could find shelter under the decks of these simple farm houses
and we could put an end to what ever varmint lies in our path.
we are the tail chasers,
the wild things of the backyard.
and for each of your nine lives you lose
I will return one right back to you.
and as the story goes,
we are the dove chasers. the response to a definition of 'childish and inane'.
the cats we will one day become, will be the kittens we are today.
we find softness in the harshest of hay; warmth in the coldest rain.
because the poetic peace, the welcoming purr, forever echos throughout our veins.
we are the dove chasers. the ones not afraid to be vague.
excepting responsibility, without ostracizing childish games.
writing i love you's in the sand, and climbing trees throughout our days.
we are the cats of tomorrow; the kittens of today.
and even our little hearts know, love doesn't fade away.
this one is for you.

I thought this was beautiful.
I loved the imagery using the cats and how you brought in ties from Where the Wild Things Are.
If I don't meet you no more in this world, I'll meet you in the next one and dont be late.
