I wanna make a VOX AC15

As above. From scratch. I wanna get all the parts and take the circuit board to a electronics shop to solder it for me, as I'm not that great at fiddly soldering. Can anyone recomend a site with plans? I really wanna Vox AC15 clone, not a recomendation of another amp. I guess a kit would be easier but I'll be happy to buy all the parts anyway.

Why a Vox AC15? They're readily available at decent prices...

And if you're going to have someone do it for you, why bother? First, I don't think people offer that service. Second, it'd be just as expensive as buying one, if they did.

^This to a 'T.' If you take all those parts to an EE and say 'solder this together for me,' you're basically saying build me this amp... What exactly would you be doing if not soldering it together?

By the time you pay for that I guarantee you've exceed the cost of an AC15 by double. So either learn to build an amp, and get a steal of a deal on it, or admit you are no electronics wizard and spend the big bucks like the rest of us... No in between.

Half the price of what? What does that even mean? Nevermind why you want to do this... You can't. There is no amp tech in the world that is going to let you buy all the parts and lay out the board and charge you minimally just to solder it together. Not to mention that building amps can take a great deal of troubleshooting, which you will need to be able to solder to do, so as I said before the tech would need to be there throughout the process.

Any better suggestions? A cheaper clone of a AC15?

Buy an AC15, hit it with a hammer until it turns into a fine powder, there's your kit.

Well, I don't know how pricey things can be in NZ, ts, so you may have some validity in your quest, just not that amp, no way.

You might come out cheaper with common Marshall or Fender clones, but that Vox is a royal b*tch. Nobody's going to have a go at that without serious money coming.

That would be one reason why there really aren't many kits for that style of amp. I bet you could have them solder up just the board, and the rest is up to you, but lead dress and troubleshooting is the hardest part, and ef86 amps are the hardest around, IMHO...

I'll tell you right now, the cost of buying the parts and then paying someone to do all the work for you............you're better off just buying a real AC15.

Not only will it be cheaper, but it will probably have better resale value.

It depends on which model you're talking about, the Custom Classic is $600 USD, but the Handwired Model is $1400 USD.

I don't know it's cheaper where you live, but over here, a Laney VC15 is a hell of a lot cheaper and just as good.

If you're just bad at "fiddly soldering," you could get a ceriatone kit (lightning, Spitfire, creme brulee) with a pre-soldered board, then just do the pots and transformers and whatnot. If you don't feel comfortable with that you could get the fully working chassis and make/buy a cab for it.

Thats what I ment! lol

Im fine with most soldering but I would rather get it done by someone who does it better. Do ceriatone do a ac15 kit? Or does anybody, 'cos I know they're notoriusly difficuilt.

Thank you Roc8995, you are the only person who listens.

Yeah I saw a VC30 second hand but I don't know what they're like and I would prefer a little amp to overdrive a little. Are the VC15s tube or hybrid?

They don't do an AC15, but the ones I mentioned are quite close, the matchless 2xEL84 amps are essentially upgraded AC15s.
