Hughes and Kettner Tube 50 Head
Anyone know anything about a Hughes and Kettner Tube 50 head? I have been offered one and I can't really find any info on it other than the reviews which seem to be pretty good. I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about these amps and what kind of sound they have.I've been told its the predecessor to the H&K Triamp. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks EDIT: Also anyone know the worth? Last edited by CrackTheSkye : 01-19-2010 at 12:35 PM. |

In first place: have you already tried the amp?
Second: how much are they asking for the amp?

Okay, I used to one the amp, here I go.
The clean is really good, typicall hughes and kettner vibe, stays clean pretty long. The boost for the clean channel sounds amazing, really crispy and nice gain, perfect for classic rock stuff or less gainy music. The gain channel without boost is not really good, I just didn't really find a way to use it in any song I've ever played. The boosted gain channel sound really good though, very dark, looooots of mids and you can really hear some good tube saturation in there. The direct out is better than most other direct out I've ever heard. And they really go cheap for what they go for used. That was the good stuff: now the lesser stuff: really loose low end, I used to use it for sludge/doom but I don't really see any other use for it. It's still worth the money they go for.
