FS: Aria Pro II Excel Dlx w/IronGear - Early 90s - UK
I got GAS a few weeks ago, so to make room (and £££) this baby has to go.
Its an Aria Pro II Excel Deluxe made in the early nineties (this one has a serial number that can't be pinned to a year, but its between '90-'94), with the following specs:
Superstrat Trans-red burst Alder body
H/S/S - IronGear SteamHammer at the bridge (tapped), stock singlecoils at middle and neck - 5 way switch
One volume and one tone knob
LFR Trem with 6 new retainer bolts, brass block
Rosewood fretboard with creme binding, maple bolt-on neck (thin profile)
22 frets, sharkfin abalone inlays
Made in Korea
Due to its pristine condition and age, Im looking for somewhere in the region of £200 for it, which is an absolute steal, but I am a poor student so im open to reasonable offers
The quality here is as good as anything from Ibanez, Jackson or LTD. around the £500-600 (this Aria was similarly priced when new).
Basically, apart from the normal slight fretwear on the 1st/2nd frets, this guitar is pretty much perfect! Absolutely no dings, scratches in the finish, or chips anywhere. It has been very well looked after.
The bridge pickup sounds amazing, loads of sustain, really shows what a quality instrument this is. The grain on the body is beautiful, the rosewood on the fretboard has some lovely figuring and the back of the neck is satin smooth, no gloss here (makes for some fast accurate playing).
The singlecoil pickups are very twangy and a great contrast to the bridge bucker, allowing for some very mellow tones. The 4th position between neck and middle gives that classic Strat quack, albeit a slightly darker quack than a Strat.
I keep this guitar in standard, but have downtuned on occasion and it just sounds amazing. Compared to my other guitar, with a basswood body, this one is darker and just sounds so much more resonant (with the same model pickup).
If you are looking for a dark metal/rock axe that can saturate the room with sustaining distortion but also produce sparkling cleans when required, this is the one.
Thanks for looking.
