Vancouver Indie scene
Alright I know Canada is pretty strong all over in producing amazing indie bands, but lately I can't stop listening to the Vancouver acts.
Hey Ocean!, Said the Whale, Dan Mangan, and Mother Mother to name a few. Anybody other bands from this area stand out to you guys? Dan Mangan - "Robots"

Mother Mother blows my mind, I haven't taken them out of heavy rotation on my iPod since I first heard them play at my college bar.
their harmonies, their hilarious and dark lyrics, their amazing instrumentation, I could go on all day about them ![]() I also have been listening to Luke Doucet quite a bit recently, he's not a Vancouver native but he lives there now I think, great guitar player.

I saw Mother Mother and Hey Ocean! with Said the Whale in Surrey. Honestly... I don't like Said the Whale at all. After standing through about 3 songs I decided I didn't care about them and they put on a pretty boring show. Hey Ocean! was great all around. I want to see them more. Mother Mother is insane. I freaking love that band. The ******ed moshpits and the dude fanning the crowd with his record sleeve... fun times. They put on such a great show as well. Probably one of the most interesting bands I've heard in recent months.

Said the Whale is amazing. Taking Abalonia/Howe Sounds is one of the best Canadian albums to come out in a looong time.
