Sounds good. That was all single tracked right? I liked the clean tone. The drums got a little borning after a while but I guess it's not about the drums right .

Can anyone give me some crits on any of these clips?

It was actually double tracked other than leads and clean the drums weren't meant to be amazing, I didn't spend the time at all on them

It all sounds good though. I think you need to bring up the volume a little.

I really liked the old school sabbath tone, a little fizzy (Try cutting 8k some or maybe just a high pass ) but you pretty much nailed it

I've liked the Sm57 plus the v30 combo than the others

Really? I thought the AKG with V30 sounded clearer than the SM57 with V30. Thanks for comments guys.

Can you use two mics at once? if you can try the AKG 3 feet off the grill cloth on center with the cone. Then try the Sm57 off center the speaker cone. See how you like it

although I'd say put the 57 at a 45 off center. I'd also say 2 feet *shrug* personal preference

I'll try it with a new cab I'm getting. All my gear is at my band practice house so I have to wait until tomorrow to get it back. Thanks for the advice

Well my room is not that

Two walls are bricks and the other are 1inch thick plywood but the ceiling is all insulation which is good. I made a room in my basement.

Might try my real room since it is a "normal" room haha.

Sounds kinda muffled. You could also try double tracking the leads. That makes them sound a lot fuller. Keep working on it though. I see potential.

So why do midi drums sound great with metalcore, but if i'm trying to play a punk song it sounds so fake?

Looks like I'm going to be learning a lot of crappy metalcore to have fun with drum tracks .

Thanks.

How would I double-track the leads? That would seriously be a pain in the ass to track.

How would I fix the "muffled" sound? I'm assuming to add more presence?

Quick question on re-amping... is it this?

1) Record line-in "clean sound" from guitar
2) Use VSTi plug-in, like PODFarm or Revalver, to simulate the amp [and cab?]
3) Use cab-mic impulses for cab simulation

Essentially, could I just record the line-in signal "sound" and use POD Farm to change the sound around? Is implementing these VSTi's like using effects (I use Reaper)?

If this is what it is... it seems a hell of a lot easier than what I am doing now.
Ryan's (?) V30 impulses sound insane, too, so that could leave potential for epic recording.
