Was impressed on initial listen, but the songs have no real staying power.

Sadly, I have to agree, the novelty wears off after your first listen

Opus Eponymous is a top 5 of 2010 album IMO. One of the few bands I've heard that is actually made heavier through the use of a keyboardist.

I don't really mind the lyrics, but I haven't really looked at them.

I'm quite the opposite actually. I think it feels like an album that could be considered a classic in its niche in years to come.

I think its brilliance is in its simplicity. They haven't overcomplicated owt, they just made a good old fashioned catchy record.

I'm with Anni. Class band, I quite liked the debut. Which surprised me.

But it addicted me. The key will be not overlistening it. [and hell, I don't care about the lyrics at all, so. whatever. ]

Eh, it's fun. I'll give it that, but I wouldn't deem it a classic anytime soon, well, probably never.

Great band, but honestly like others have said, this has no replay value whatsoever.

Fantastic, it's like Mercyful Fate sometimes mixed with early rock. I do think the lyrics fit the songs great. It's all Satan here and Lucifer there, but combined with the music it gives an eerie vibe. Unlike nowadays blackmetal bands where all I hear is agression and not the spookyness that Ghost brings to the table.

Ghost should cover the Scooby-Doo theme song

I can't quite put it into words what it is about them, but to me Ghost are just... all but repulsive

Quite the contrary. I love Repugnant, but I can't even force myself into liking this new fad-act.
