How big a coc k is too big?

I'm going to cook a chicken dinner for 3, and I don't want much leftovers, so I'm wondering how large is too large a chicken to have leftovers? I'm thinking of getting a 3-4 pound chicken, but 4 is pushing it.

How big are the portions?

A 20lb bird should just be enough. You're American, right?
