So guys after 25,000+ posts and near 50,000 views...i decided the old thread could deserve an archive.

I bottled getting an Agile 7 string at the start of the year because I thought it would be somewhat pointless when I'm still playing through a Line 6 Spider 2. Did I make the right call or would it still have sounded ok even through such a basic amp?

It wouldn't have sounded fantastic, but for practicing playing a 7, I see no problem. I gig through a Cube 60 with 7s. I'll be honest, it's not the best sound, but I can't afford to upgrade, and it does do the job.

Bringing discussion over about the PRS SE 7, I feel it could either be a nice guitar, or a terrible one. The price tag I can't even speculate on, but it'd probably be pretty high for a Korean made guitar.
I think they'd actually have a 25.5" scale as they did with the SE Torrero. PRS are becoming much more acquainted with different scale sizes lately, even on their SE line (Torrero - 25.5", Mike Mushok Baritone - 28"). I think the PRS crowd could really jump on sevenstring models. I'm a part of that crowd, and I'd definitely be all over one. In other news, I played an RGA7 for the first time the other day. I didn't have enough time to try it with an amp, but I wasn't too much a fan of the neck. It felt unfinished, not anything like any Ibanez 7 I've played. I don't know if I'd jump on one, even with a pup swap. I guess I'm very old school with how I choose guitars - if it doesn't play well without an amp, I don't even plug it in. |
