Larger strings only help to a certain point (as well as costing a bomb) so scale length is good to balance it out essentially, so you don't have to use such big strings.

Congrats AJ! That Carvin is freakin awesome. That flame top is one of the best I've ever seen.

String haul arrived the other day, mixing and matching a few sets to see what i prefer over 27" as opposed to 28.5"

So BKP just announced on their facebook page that they're doing their pickups in soapbar housings now... I'm not sure it's possible to measure how happy this makes me.

honestly i think i prefer the way thicker strings on a shorter scale feel, to an extent. i really dont think i would like being tuned say below Gb on 25.5". i agree with freepower. 6 to 7 is easy, but for some reason, 7 to 8 is a bit tougher for me. theres more strings you have to worry about muting. my first 8 was an agile intrepid. it had a 28 5/8"s scale and a really wide string spacing. i was able to get used to that, but playing on the lower frets for long periods of time actually did hurt my wrist. i sold that and bought a carvin 8 which had a 27" scale and smaller, normal string spacing. very very comfortable axe to play on, very beautiful, etc but i was still having troubles keeping things muted as much as i wanted. So with many a tear shed, I sold that. I hadn't owned a 7 in like a year and a half, and about a month ago i bought an agile LP style 7 with 27" scale, and i like it a lot. i can keep much better track of where I am on a 7 than on an 8. so id say try an 8 if you can before you buy one. i cant recall what you were or werent looking for, but ibanez RGA7s would be a nice cheap way to get started on a 7. hell even their RGA8 (27" scale) is only $399USD new i think.

The older vintage soapbars or are we talking about EMG Active soapbars?

thats going to make a LOT of people really happy! honestly, a guitar having active routes or not has really been an important buying factor for me, but this should alleviate that they dont look oversized or awkward either. lookin mighty fine

Definitely going to make more people consider all of the guitars with the massive EMG pickups. Seemed to be a dealbreaker for many.

Definitely was for me, now with those ESP Tele 7s having been announced and this... jebus money is going to be hard to keep hold of in the near future!

I got news earlier this week that I'm going to be doing my uni industry placement next year at IBM as well... this week has been too good so far, I'm totally waiting for something to go horribly wrong!

It's a shame I haven't actually tried any. I wouldn't know what to put in my Tele.

^the miracle man is pretty sweet yessir it is. i cant wait till my red one gets here so i can use it again. but you can email the axe palace and give em the specs of your guitar and sort of the sound you're going for, and you can get some pretty good advice.

but wait, you've recently got that AW7 and then a 5150 combo. so you are forbidden from buying any more nice things for a while! making some of us (ME) have horrid GAS again.
