It's not the hardest thing to do a bit of research into and try and learn yourself. But failing that, if you take it to someone who knows what they're doing, and assuming you don't need any new parts, I'd guess maybe £20-£30? Electronics aren't very expensive really...

It's very daunting when you're just getting into it, but it's honestly a lot more simple than you'd think. All you need to be able to do is solder (which is easy enough to get the hang of) and follow wiring diagrams, which can be confusing at first, but if you sit and think about it, it all becomes very clear once you get your head around the concept of it.

its actually kind of fun once you get comfortable doing the wiring yourself. i get a nice feeling of accomplishment when i totally redo the electronics in a guitar. its like it makes it more yours

Anyone know of any 8's or 7's (preferably 8's) that dont look like typical metal guitars? Most of the stuff I see is just RG's and other similar guitars. I've got a jazz book with a foster 7 string tele on the back and it just looks so nice, so anyone know anything with out paying 3 grand for a jazz guitar?

What kind of budget do you have mate?
I'm struggling to think of anyhing that isn't a pretty metal looking beast and also not crazy expensive - at least in terms of 8 strings anyway. There might be some 7s you could look at; there was a fender strat-style 7 string. A Stagemaster or something? I completely forgot about Carvin but I think they're a little out of my price range just now least until I get a little bit more money, I'm in the uk so I think I have to pay import tax as well (which is a B**ch). I was looking at spending about £600 (think thats about $900). The link for the Schecter wouldn't work^ I usually like Schecters especially the shape but every single one of them come with gothic inlays or skulls and all i want really is just a normal looking guitar if there was a strat 8 I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

It might be a little out of your price range though?? Could try the new Ibanez RG8 in white. That would leave you enough money to spare to put some decent pickups in it. I'm guessing you're in the UK so maybe look at Siggery guitars http://www.siggeryguitars.co.uk/index.html They're custom shop models but from what I understand they're pretty good bang for buck and you might be able to get something awesome for your budget? Or might have to stretch it a little further but still. Worth contacting him at least.

Thanks man yea that Scheter actually looks pretty nice I think I could deal with that haha. I'm not too keen on Ibanez I've had some problems in the past and I'm not really up for buying another one. And I'll email Siggery and see what they can do (worth a shot). I'm not trying to sound like a snob here in fact i F***ing love metal I just dont want a Big, Black.....pointy guitar.
