International NGD: It Has Been Foretold!

its the Epiphone Prophecy GX!

i have been trying to get this guitar for about 4 years now and it is finally here =)

right the first guitar review i have ever written...

it seems to be a very rock orientated guitar. unlike the EX with its EMG pickups the dirty fingers pups defiantly alot brighter sounding making it perfect for classic rock sounds.

the factory set up isnt as bad as i thought it would be. i defiantly need to raise the bridge and swap the strings over before i give a proper playability review and since i have only had it out the box about 30 mins i cant really comment on much apart from it is REALLY heavy. i thought it might be abit lighter than my EX (dont know why) but it really isnt.

so i have finally got my Epiphone EX a Sister, i think i need to name them both now...

any ideas? girls names beginning with E and G preferably lol

and now for a family photo!

Nice!

Im looking at Epiphones at the moment but hankering for a more traditional wood colour, quite loke the lemonburst flavour.

Whats the build quality like?

should have mentioned in the review....

it feels really solid, no bumps, scratches, seems alright =)

i have had my EX for over 12 months now and its going strong, no problems yet (touch wood) and it was an unloved display model before that =)

erm, not too bad. takes time to get used to it. but with the extra 2 frets there it makes the 21st and 22nd easier to get too which is what i struggle to get to on 22fret LP's

just too add on. it looks like since 2008 (when my EX was made) epiphone seem to have changed the nut that they use. it just looks like the one on the GX is different...

but in a good way =)

i have, you wouldnt believe how hard it is to get a hardshell for a 24fret les paul... the amount of places i email and they keep saying "erm.... i dont know... cant tell you for sure"

how hard is it to go and get one and see if it fits?

but the Epiphone branded ones fit perfectly

I actually looked at one of those when I got my Epi LP, but I decided to go with a more traditional looking one for some reason...
But those really are 2 of the nicer Epiphones I've seen.

I actually really like the GX better than the EX. This makes me want to put gold hardware on my Gibson. Gold hardware is just beautiful on any les paul

thanks everybody!

its been a long 4 year wait to hear what this guitar sounds like but it was definatly worth it.

now that i ahve both of them i definatly have a balanced collection of guitars suited to playing all the music i want.

i think this is my last NGD for a very long time... thats until epiphone bring out another line of awesome specials at really good value for money lol

its only a matter of time before i try/fall in love with slash's appetite LP lol
