Velnias

Metal-archives calls it blackened folk/doom. Not too bad, some of you guys might enjoy it. I went to school with the drummer's brother, so I guess that makes me famous.

Bump for new album.

It's fucking awesome. The doom fan in me absolutely loves some of the turns this album takes, especially in the song I linked. Can't wait for my vinyl copy to arrive.

Colorado has a great slew of bands going right now.

Velnias is better if you don't go in looking for black metal, it's just kind of sprinkled on top of their sound I think.

That we do. Stoic Dissention is quality in the Funeral direction, Flight of Sleipnir is similar to Velnias but more stoner based, and then there's a few others too that're solid. Dreadnought is awesome proggy weird extreme stuff (and I know a few members of Dreadnought/Stoic!).

And watch out for Wayfarer, they're gonna be really good once they start gigging/have a bassist.

Yeah, I'm familiar with all but Wayfarer actually. I'll be sure to check them out.

I wish I could show off bands from Kansas in this situation, but well, you know

Yeah I had to plug them, I know all the dudes of Wayfarer. And the drummer for them is the drummer of Centimani and guitarist of Stoic. They just need a bassist/vocalist... Their demo is damn good though. Really Moonsorrow-ish.
