The Gate That Lets You In (Prog/Experimental) (GP5 GP4 C4C)
Hey guys, I've been staying up all night watching UFO conspiracy videos on Youtube and I was inspired to write this. I'm thinking of extending it a bit but for now I think I'm pretty happy with it. Comments about the solo/transitions/how I could make it a bit longer/anything else would be much appreciated. C4C.

it's actually pretty amazing.
just be cautious about the time sigs.. sounds a bit forced to me. ruined the mood a bit, but still works ok, although it's not grooving. that transition 38 to 39 sounded too aprupt imo. maybe it's because of the 9/16 time sig. well, if you want to comment on some songs of mine, just look on my profile. preferably "123456", i still work on the second half of the song...

The introduction was nice, I suppose. Unusual use of electronic drums with rhodes and organ playing over it, but it worked. Transitions were all great leading up to part III, but the transition from part III to IV didn't really work, it comes too suddenly I think. Part IV works finely on its own though. With the solo, it really needs an ending note, rather than the muted ones you have. Something like a bend, or just a long held note would work there. The transition from IV to V certainly worked better than the previous one. I'm not a fan of the rall. at the end, it doesn't seem like a fitting way to end the song.

Good job, it's evident a lot of time went into this. I really like the electronic sounding drums, nice touch. The only gripes I have is that the transition to the "heavy riff" is a bit too sudden and the odd time signatures don't really add anything to the music (they actually sound kinda jerky in some places when they're placed suddenly after a steady flow of 4/4). The song is also kinda short, might wanna add more parts to it. Other than that, good job!

I get inspiration from UFO shows all the time
![]() I really enjoyed the intro. It then started to sound a bit like Buckethead, which was unexpected but still cool. The 9/8 measures were great in my book. Then you through in this The Fall of Troy style riff which was pretty good, but slightly out of place. Maybe that's what you were going for. I thoroughly enjoyed the rest. Nice work man. |
