The ONLY Band Name Thread
Ok all... to stop the influx of band name threads in this forum and many others, i'm starting this one off to replace the one moved out of MT into the archive.
First of all, READ THIS THREAD for UGers suggestions. If you want a band name, the liklihood is that you will find one there. Also try these if you really have no creativity of your own, try these generators: General: http://www.joescafe.com/bands/ http://www.elsewhere.org/cgi-bin/bandname http://www.afm.org/public/musicbiz/...megenerator.php http://www.bandnamemaker.com/sbf/docs/ Emo: http://members.aol.com/Valdes379/EmoGame.html Bluegrass ):http://www.mandolincafe.com/archives/bandnames/ <hr> Ok, now whilst i've provided those links for you, remember your band name has not only to be memorable, but also have some reasoning behind it. "I found it on a tab site/I used a band name generator" will get you laughed out of Rolling Stone interviews when you're rich and famous... try to use something personal or meaningful from your life. Here's a few links and tips: - BBC Guide - Read this one... it's a great little guide on how to choose a name, and all the legal nitty-gritty on registration and your rights. - Band Names and the Law Next step? Checkin no-one else has your band name!! Search on these sites: http://ubl.artistdirect.com/ http://www.music-bands-list.com/ http://www.google.com (I know, it's obvious but some people are just ****in' stupid ... search for your band name and the word band... simple).Your band name isn't there? If you want to register your band name? Well first read up on the law: http://www.music-law.com/bandname.html Check out this guide to registering and TradeMarking: http://www.vocalist.org.uk/band_name_registration.html Ready to register? Perhaps try a registration site: - http://www.bandname.com - http://www.bandreg.com/ <hr> Ok that should help hopefully, and cut out the. "What shall I call my band?" threads. I'll leave this thread open for questions, tips etc, and if anyone wants opinions on band names (after they've gone through the above process!!) ![]()

Which sounds better Helios, Idle Hands, or Battle Axe? My band plays classic rock, and hair/heavy metal.

Id go with Idle Hands. The other ones sound kind of cliche (especially Battle Axe).

I'd definately say Idle Hands... even though you probably ripped it off the film. Classic film mind you. I agree with Metal Army... the others are too cliche.
Do any of them have meaning to you, or are they just random?

Re: The ONLY Band Name Thread
^ Well no, it doesn't have to... but if you're serious about your music, it would be odd to have a name that has no meaning... in my opinion anyway. As I said in my first post....

^ Erm... what about it? Is that your band name? A suggestion? A completely random statement?
