I never bother to mention SRV around here. There's no point. If anybody mutters the faintest anything about blues, there is instantly a parade of posts about SRV as if nobody has ever heard of him. And I especially don't bother with "Pride And Joy" because I'm sick to death of that song and it is guaranteed to be mentioned right after somebody says, "Oh yeah, SRV's the best".

I think it's safe to say that everybody knows about Stevie Ray Vaughan.

BTW, I ain't even mad about this. Whatever. Sometimes things just need to be said.

I sort of rediscovered Robin Trower a few months ago. I was a huge fan back in the late 70's. I was such a fan that for my 16th birthday I traveled across the state to a Trower/Ten Years After show in San Antonio, TX and it still ranks as one of the favorite shows of my life.

Anyway, I found a youtube video of him recorded in 2009 playing Daydream. It was always a favorite. Sadly James Dewar is no longer with us, but the new singer isn't bad......and Trower still has amazing tone. It doesn't look like he's lost anything.

I'm gonna throw Freddie King in here.. the one that comes to mind is Sweet Home Chicago.

Yeah it's a cover, but I always remember being inspired by him the first time I heard it.

Aerosmith has some great blues/rock work, both covers and originals. Here are a couple:

Started listening to Chuck Berry about 10 years ago. Probably a little light compared to the bands listed above. But it is from the pioneer of modern guitar rock. Song has a wonderful pianist too!

If you haven't seen it. this video takes stage showmanship to a whole new place for me.
