Anyone know anything like the Black Dahlia Murder... I'm at a loss... I've listened to John Kampainen's new project which is pretty similar!

Vektor are my newest recommendation. Have a technical thrash metal thing going on, with some deathy sounding stuff, I love them! Tetrastructural Minds is a great one.

I'm looking for some death/doom or funeral that has a few things. I want some trad doom styled melancholic harmonizing guitars, major third abuse is fine, but I want it to stray into a nasty death riff pace every now and then.
Basically I'm looking for some more of this

Bit of an odd request, but does anybody know of anything that sounds like Helloween's Oernst of Life or Blind Guardian's Symphonies of Doom?

Been listening to Wodensthrone's Loss and Primordial's To The Nameless Dead a lot lately and I'm really liking it. Any recs for other bands with similar sounds? I really like Wodensthrone's production - it's not super crisp, but it's not hissy and muddy like a lot of lowfi productions I've heard before - and I really like the folk elements in both artists' sound. Any recs?

So I'm curious where a certain band falls in the genre spectrum. Elitists might be able to help solve this riddle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accept My guess is close to actual "true" metal, but I'm not so great at knowing the exact qualifications for that, since I think just about everything that goes chugga-chugga is Metal ![]() |

A few answers here fit. Black Metal: Infestus - Ex | Ist [has all you're looking for - depressing and says **** the world, etc] Irrwisch - Irrwisch [sort of] Arizmenda - Within the Vacuum of Infinity [track it down, trust me] Deathspell Omega - Paracletus, and everything else really back to SMRC Farsot - IIII Pensees Nocturnes - Grotesque, Vacuum Craft, Ravencult, and Tenebrae in Perpetuum would all be good to check out too Funeral Doom: Colosseum - Chapter II: Numquam, Chapter III: Parasomnia, and Chapter I. They're all incredible And non-metal: Tenhi - Saivo, Airut:aamujen, Maaaet, Vare, etc. Everything really. Rome - Flowers from Exile, Masse Mensch Material, Nos Chants Perdus, Hell Money, etc Bohren & der Club of Gore - Sunset Mission, Black Earth If you go the jazz route I'd also highly suggest Weather Report and Return to Forever. And Mahavishnu Orchestra

Black Sabbath: try their early stuff if you haven't already Red Fang - Red Fang Clutch - Strange Cousins From the West Dopethrone - Demonsmoke Lord Vicar - Signs of Orisis Horn of the Rhino High on fire Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf The Sword Weedeater Bongzilla There's some doom stuff in there and some non-metal stuff in there. Saying you don't like doom makes it hard. You should at least give it another go. |
