I think it's a gimmick. I've had the g5, and the tube really doesn't do anything.

My replacement arrived on Friday and I've put the Kemper through its paces over the weekend. Slightly disappointed with some of the clone tones, but that's more because I'm not used to the out of the mix sounds. Once you add in backing tracks or just playing along with a CD, they sound, for the most part, great. There are some seriously good high gain amp profiles out there. Really enjoying some of the ENGL & 6505 profiles, well once a boost is added Need to get around to figuring out how to use my hd500 as a midi controller too.

Hi,
I'm looking at getting an amp modeler, and I've posted a thread about it here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/foru...d.php?t=1571146 I've been looking at the Avid Eleven Rack, the Line 6 Pod HD 500/Pro, and the Digitech GSP1101.

My main concern is sound quality, especially high gain (metal like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Testament, etc.), and I've become kind of unhappy with my Fender Mustang I, because the sound has no depth - it's sort of 2-dimensional and sterile, if that makes sense. If you have some advice (or if you're selling an Axe-FX for under $1000 ) please reply to the thread I posted above.

I'm slightly inclined to go with the Eleven Rack, because it seems better than the Pod HD from clips I've heard and the GSP1101 clips seem to have that same '2D' quality to them (but if the unit has that depth to sound I'm looking for - well, it's $300 less )

Thanks!

I'd go with the pod or the 11r. I'd personally go with the pod because it has a foot controller built in and has more options and effects and whatnot

The 11r supposedly has a better quality amp models. I haven't used one myself.

The 11r is 2 or 300 more than the pod, plus the price of foot controller and cables. If I was going to spend that muh I'd just get a used axe fx

The top priority for me is sound quality. If I find a used Axe FX in my budget ($800-ish, maybe a little more) I'd probably go with that. But if I can't, how would you rank the three I mentioned in terms of amp/effect sim quality?

Thanks!

Pure quality?

11r
pod
gsp

But for me the practicality of the pod puts it ahead of the 11r

Thanks! I won't be able to try out the GSP1101 anyway, so I'll try the Eleven Rack and the Pod HD and make a call.

Thanks for the help!

Traded away my Ultra live rig for a Mark IV combo and an Ibanez SV5470, and some cash. I'm officially saving for a II, not because of the sound quality, but because of the effects. If not, then I will just get another ultra or standard, as they're very inexpensive compared to a year or so ago. At least I still have a GSP1101 for effects.

I used to have the mark IV head, but this time I got the combo. Loving it, very versatile, sounds good at all volumes, even has a slave out so I can record with impulses!
