If you would like to write for the zine, say so here and pick a topic.

Regular posters from each of the major Pit threads are welcome to contribute, but anyone can put forward opinion pieces on a recent news item or general topic.

Comic artists and short story writers have the chance to show their work, and if you have a good original riff or lick on guitar/bass/drums/keys/vocals, you can submit it in tab or standard notation format.

We're also looking for a designer to make the zine look good. It will be in PDF format, and the designer will collaborate with the editors to fine tune the layout as well as producing the overall style of the zine.

The Process

1. Choose a section and topic, or suggest a new section. Sign up here and I'll add you to the Group.


2. Write or create your piece. Maximum of:

2000 words for a short story
250 words for a poem
100 words to accompany a riff or lick
500 words for anything else

.doc or .txt for text

max. 16 bars for a tab
submit in Guitar Pro or Tux Guitar format if possible


3. Send it to amplified.editor@gmail.com


4. Your piece will be forwarded to the relevant sub-editor, who will contact you with the first edit.


5. When the sub-ed is satisfied with it, they will send it back to the editor.

About

IRL = In Real Life. Write about a recent news story or any field of knowledge. Be clear and balanced in any argument.

Thread Report - if you are a regular in a major forum thread, give us an update on any thought-provoking discussions that have transpired.

Contests - apart from the official UG contests, there are also user-based ones going on in the forums. The organizers of them can write up their results to feature in the next issue.

Intros - write an introduction to a genre or band, highlighting five important albums.

Reviews - of a CD, DVD, live tour, book, movie, etc. Must either have been released in September-October 2011, or be significant to a genre or society. Include your recommended tracks/parts, and suggest further listening/reading/viewing.

Design - we're always looking for designers. If you have what it takes to produce some stylish page templates, head to the design thread for discussion.

Comics and Artwork - we need to bring some colour to Amplified, so if you've got something good tucked away somewhere, feel free to submit it (so long as you have not given another publication exclusivity).
