... Aaaanyway...

On a side note: To whoever asked for country-influence slowcore, have you heard Mojave 3's first album? Some of the songs on there are absolutely gorgeous:

I love a bit of slowcore: check out Low (okay, so you probably know them), and Codiene. Their album Frigid Stars is pretty tasty.

the record by EMA that came out earlier this year might appeal to some of you.

Wonderful. I think some of the early Mojave 3 material surpasses Slowdive. I just wish I could see it live ;(

I'm only just getting into this stuff, (probably because of this thread. I've heard of slowcore before, but was afraid of the "core" part, so I stayed away) but I really dig it!
I'm glad I checked it out. I tend to write slower songs as it is, so it makes sense that I'd be into it, I guess.
I really like Low, Coastal, and Bedhead so far. I made a Low station on my pandora to find some more stuff.

now, if slowcore is considered a style rather than just a few bands, is there anything else that I'm missing? or is it really just slower music?

Just listen to lots of Cat Power.
And slowcore is really just slower, (sometimes) more sad music in my opinion.

Her first two albums are the only ones I keep on my iPod. Her later work is just very bland alternative rock. Not really my thing.

^hmm. i'll see about the first one then.

new Rivulets album didn't make me want to drink myself into an entirely unfeeling state like Debridement does, so take that as you will.

The first one is okay. It's got that fragility to it, but it's also kinda jazzy. Not the best. Better than her later work.

oh shit, C-Clamp. is it world changing? probably not, but it is certainly hitting the spot.

if it is a selling point, there is a track or two on Longer Waves that reminds me of Owls.

Might seem like self-promotion, but my band has been writing more and more slowcore-influenced material, and I figure this is the best place to get opinions on our newest song.
A warning: the first chorus isn't very well distinguished from the verse because the vocal harmonies are much too low in the mix.

Here it is: "Slow" by Lipstick Lesbian
