Ltd Ec-401 vs Ec-1000

Okay, I have pretty much narrowed down my next guitar to a 401. But, I wonder what the difference is between the two would I be paying 200 dollars more for just some abalone inlays? I am rather new to guitar specs, sorry if this is a stupid question.

I think the only difference is the 1000 has better hardware. It might also have better tonewood, but judging from the way LTD has been the past few years, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same wood.

There's like a bazillion EC models. Which ones in particular are you considering?

According to Guitar Center, they are pretty much identical. The only difference in specs is that the EC-1000 has a higher quality bridge and tuners.

If you're looking to save money, the EC-401 seems like the better choice. However, the EC-1000 has a lot more finishes to choose from if you're willing to pay a little more.

EC-1000 has abalone, too. Essentially, you get a much better deal with the EC-1000 than the EC-401.

The Ec 401 in satin black is absolutely perfect for me, in my opinion. Perfect finish/hardware color, EMG's and a great price. I think that the 1000 is made out of mahogany, same as the 401. Same pups too. So it seems that it's that ridiculous looking abalone. The 1000 model is the BLK model.

You could probably get an EC-1000 used for the same price as a new EC 401. There are some models without the abalone.

But hey, a new bridge n' tuners aren't that pricey, and the stock ones can't be that awful.

But not the satin finish, I don't think, and if, it's got abalone.

Yeah, there's two, I think with a satin finish. One has yellow binding. Most people on here just love that one... I'm not a fan of it. Then I think there's one more, but I'm not entirely sure.

EDIT: Only one.

Cool! Although I seriously don't want to hitch, I really don't dig that rim color *shrug*

Yeah, most people love it. But it's the only one, I think. The rest are gloss black. There is a gloss black one without abalone, though.
