That depends on how much easier/simpler it is just walking into a store and paying. One hour of my time is worth about $50, so even a 10 minute email is hardly worth it.

Well, dunlop agreed to send me the picks i asked for and a few more actually which is really good, and gravity picks are sending me 1 as a sample i think. Strings may be a step up but if dunlop can send me a 42 dollar pick along with others then it's not a step up from that by any means >_> I told a guy i know in australia about this and he emailed eastwood guitars asking for a Warren Ellis signature model, included in the email was how he deserves it because he isn't badass enough to grow a huge beard like Warren. Needless to say, he got denied like a day later ![]()

Even if an hour is worth $50, you have to have 10 minutes of free time spent at home SOME TIME. Like before work, right when you're about to go to sleep, etc. And if that 10 minutes could get you some free stuff....why not? It really shouldn't take 10 minutes to type up the email anyway...

Because I'd rather not ask on my free time and just fork over while I'm already at the store...

Why not let people get free stuff? You can do thing your way and they can do it their own way. If I had like 30 minutes of free time and I could use 5 minutes of it to get a free pack of picks sent to me, I'd probably do it. I enjoy free things. Not that many things ARE free. If you have the chance, why not? If you would rather go to the store and buy picks...do it! No one is stopping you.

To be honest this whole "You have too much free time to ask for a free pick" thing is nonsense.
I guarantee this post I'm making right now will have taken longer. Plus I have no job, my parents don't have jobs/are in a hell of a lot of debt individually, I have a whole lot of time to write small emails and a hell of a lot of reason to get picks for free as opposed to purchasing them. Either way it's not like the emails are "Give me free picks. Because I deserve free stuff". It's more "I want to try your picks, but my local guitar store has very small selection so I haven't had the chance, is there any chance of a sample?" Not a word of a lie there, that was to Planet Waves (who have agreed to send me some contrary to my previous post). With Dunlop it was a case of "I'm interested in your jazz picks, but don't know where to start with them, is there any information on their differences?" Never actually asked for a pick, but they replied with "We'll send you some." Either way, free stuff when people can afford to give away free stuff isn't reason to complain like some of you are doing. It's not a waste of time, it's not like we could be doing anything more productive by taking 2 more minutes than we usually would if we were, for example, checking our emails, or posting on an internet forum. In fact the time you guys complaining have spent posting complaining about people getting free stuff is significantly more than we've spent emailing pick companies...but you're getting nothing to show for it, surely that means your posting on a forum is a waste of your valuable time? /rant

poor bugera is always getting the shit now ![]() anyways as i said idk something sent to you like that is far different from just buying some stuff... so i'll still say it's nice i did write to dunlop, just asking for free samples. i wonder if they're gonna write me back or ask what picks i'd want... also asked DR for neon strings VEDIT: ^ quite agreed. it's not like you dont have time for anything and just getting some samples isn't worth all that time... i say i like it and i am doing ![]() besides as opposed to a firealarm-etc installment. im a full time musician and trust me those few minutes that i post here or write emails do not really cost me anything, i wouldnt get anything from those anyways... time management i guess. it all comes down to personal basis

I'd say they'll definitely send picks, so far noone's been turned away from Dunlop! I was inquiring about their Jazz picks so they're sending me some of them, Zoot Allures specified too, I thnik if you just asked for a sample of picks you'll probably get a variey of maybe 5 different picks...unless they ask you what you want of course!
