The BRAND NEW Blues & Jazz video thread
I loved Encore_God's old video thread (here), so I decided to start a new one, and hopefully encourage some posting on our lonely forum.
If you've seen any cool blues or jazz videos on youtube or similar sites, post them here. Discussion is more than welcome and encouraged, but let's not turn this into a place to debate about which artists are "real" blues or the merits of jazz fusion, if we can help it. I'll get us started. A cool song played by the late Sean Costello: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnIF...feature=related I dig the solo in this song.

Not many guitar players do it for me like Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.

Agreed
And to be honest its hard for me to find a jazz guitarist I like, most of them do something that puts me off, but Joe and Wes got something else going the others don't. Also my favorite blues song, BB King -

Good tune, I'm guessing that's the only song he performed on that show?

Ha! Yeah, I've been a little scarce. Real life can get in the way of one's internetingz. It seems I wind up in The Pit more often than not when I peek in here... Also, for what it's worth, I don't feel obligated to chime in on every "recommend me some blues" thread. By now, I know I've spoken my peace enough to not be that scratched record...
The Tedeschi Trucks Band is fantastic though, I've seen them twice now and I'm lovin' it. I met Derek's dad at the last show, he's running the merch booth. But yeah man, they're tight! They all look like they're having such a great time too, especially Oteil. And yes, the album is great. Here's a few more videos/tunes. The Steepwater Band - Remember The Taker Marc Ford & The Neptune Blues Club - Don't Get Me Killed Muddy Waters w/ Johnny Winter - Can't Be Satisfied Gregg Allman - Floating Bridge Duane Allman - Happily Married Man The Allman Brothers Band - Egypt I saw the ABB play "Egypt" this past April at the Wanee Festival. I knew what it was within the first half of a second and I just freaked. They don't just play this all the time, so I was in heaven for the next 10 - 15 minutes. But anyways, how the hell have you been?

I'm doing great. Staying busy. Way too busy, actually.
![]() I haven't gotten to see TTB yet. They haven't come close enough. I'm going to catch Warren Haynes Band next month, though. Is life treating you well?

Nice, I saw the Warren Haynes Band at Wanee too. It was fantastic.
I've been busy enough. I've been married to my job since January, which is a blessing and a curse... House projects, jamming, drinking, concerts, overtime, catching up from a 20-month lay-off, chasing tail, new car, etc... I can't wait for some vacation time, I'm gonna burn up a week as soon as I get some back. Seriously, it's been getting to be too much. Shit man, there was even a period of like 2 and a half months where I didn't even touch a guitar, it even felt foreign that first time. But, it's one of those things where you come back and just smoke the plateau that you were stuck on. I feel like my phrasing has improved a lot. Still searching for that perfect IPA too...

Yes it is. The aptly named Ruination.
Their Arrogant Bastard Ale is pretty damn good too.

I love all of their beers that I've tried. The 15th anniversary imperial black IPA is very good, too. Very strong, hoppy, but finishes very heavy like a stout.

I like the sound of that. If I see it, I'll be grabbing it. Lagunitas' IPA Maximus is a strong and full flavored IPA. I've been drinking that and Flying Dog's Snake Dog IPA a lot.
With the exception of this week, I've been on a little Oktoberfest kick. 'Tis the season, ya know?

Oh, yeah. I love fall seasonal beers. I miss Dogfish Head Punkin Ale, but Shock Top has an alright Pumpkin Wheat beer that my girlfriend likes, so I've been drinking that with her. The New Belgium Brewing Company has a good fall seasonal called hoptober. Sam Adams Octoberfest is always around...
