The Ultimate Gear Demo Thread
Here it is kids. The Ultimate Gear Demo Thread!
This is where we will put all Gear Demos moving forward. There will be some simple rules, so if you want to participate - please make sure you follow those. We have been talking about doing this for a while now - but wanted to make sure it was structured in a way to make it productive. This is not a spam thread. Posts that appear to be designed to increase hits on youtube, or draw attention to your band or something you are selling will not be allowed. Flaming or even short posts saying 'killer!' are not allowed either. Constructive dialog or even requests ARE welcome. Rules: -No Spam -No Flaming -Must be your own Demo (there will be a few exceptions to this with my approval) -We require a 1 line Description of your Demo (see below) -We then require a bit more detail that explains what you are doing. -It can be an audio clip or video -No advertising -You can have multiple demos per post as long as they follow this format: -Type...... Manufacturer / Product / Signal Chain / User Name (see SimplyBen's posts as a great example) Purpose: The purpose of this thread is two-fold. Mainly it is a structured collection of UG'r demos. Demos that are not considered spam or advertising will be indexed in the OP on the first page by type. Eventually it will become a valuable resource for all of us. You will be able to find it in the 'Banned threads and a list of good ones' Sticky. By following some basic rules we can make your demo more valuable and make it seen by more people (instead of drifting off into the sunset). The second purpose is to cut down on the clutter in the forums. Examples: There are lots of different types of demos and we don't really care as long as you follow the basic guidelines. In other words, don't just post 'Here is a demo of my Blackheart amp, hope you enjoy' with no other explanation. Those will be deleted. This is even more important if you only have a clip and no video. Because we won't be able to see what you're doing/using you'll need to provide some more information including potentially - time stamps. For example: MXR Carbon Copy Delay :11, MXR Phase 90 phaser :33 Valveking amp. Fender Strat/ 311 Videos are great because we can see what is going on but don't assume we can figure everything out. If you are demo'ing a bunch of pedals or amp settings at one time - then use the time-stamp format like I just outlined. If you can insert text into your video to mark changes that is good too. What if you have a 12 minute demo of all your pedals but the only one I care about is the Carbon Copy and it is 11 minutes in? That would something good to know up front. We are mostly interested in Amps, Pedals, Pickups, Speakers/Cabs and Software/MFX. Anything else can go into the Miscellaneous category. Please don't demo your new strings or plectrums unless you have something unique, discernible and well presented. If you do an amp - tell us about your amp and how you went about creating the demo. What were the settings? What cab did you use? What guitar/pups did you use? Without this other information your demo will not be as relative. If you do pickups - it would be very beneficial to do a before and after with the same guitar. Same for any modifications you may demo. Does everyone get it? OK, lets get started.

by way of example again: Peavey Vypyr 60 - Mesa Dual Rec setting, flat EQ at 12noon, x-boost / Schecter C1+ / Shure SM57 / 311ZOSOVHJH http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/.../all/play983744 These clips was done right after I got this amp. I would say it does a fair job of modelling the amps it is recreating. Not spot on but close enough for what I want to do which is just mess around. The EQ on all of my Vypyr clips were flat at Noon. The pre and post gain was probably somewhere around 3pm. This is an open back combo running 6L6 power tubes. I was using my Schecter C1+ that has stock pups. I recorded it using a Shure SM57 mic > Line 6 UX1 > Audacity.

^ oh yeah - thanks for fixing your post too.
Don't bunch them into one post. The rule is 1 demo per post. I will easily group all the Baron clips together so your stuff will still appear together. We just didn't want people dumping 10 vids on me - even though that would easier. I'll let Colin chime in on that idea.

Well if they just kept by the rules as far as how it should look and did them in alphabetical order I don't see why not a few in one post.

Here's the link to my album on my profile, which includes 27 clips of all different amps playing the same DIs through the same cab (Mesa Recto OS 4x12) and the same mic (SM57) with the same position:

I just EQ'd them how I thought they sounded best, threw a mic in front of them and hit record  Apologies for some of them being louder than others - I got better at "mastering" them later. Maybe someday I'll redo the lower volume clips so they all match, but I'm not sure I still have the stems saved :\
